Amphitheater

Concerts & Shows

The Minack Theatre is a spectacular open-air amphitheatre located on the cliffs of Cornwall's Porthcurno beach, known for its diverse range of live performances including those by the RSC. The theatre was built in the 1930s by Rowena Cade using only a trowel, and has since become an iconic landmark. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean while watching shows amidst hand-carved seating and balconies.

The amphitheater provides the most dramatic of backdrops to any performance. There is an old saying amongst hill walkers, there is no such thing as bad weather only the wrong clothing. That is very true of a Minack performance, come prepared for the weather and you will have a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We saw Hetty Feather in early April on a coldish, windy evening and enjoyed every moment wrapped in warm coats and blankets. The actors did an incredible job aided by superb audio and lights. A fabulous show in the most incredible of all theatres.

Plan a day without rain... and when you have energy!A wonderful place to see. The views are breathtaking and the sense of theatrical history is wonderful.Nice tea shop to take a rest after the climb back up.Be warned... the drive there is alarming at times - narrow and full of twists. Also, it's all on a cliff edge so it's very much a case of loads of steps. Worth it, though.

DameBlanche RuMare — Google review

Amazing history and incredible views. The beautiful pants are worth going for alone. We were lucky to be there on a day when the weather was perfect and there was a rehearsal for a dance show going on. We'll definitely be going back. Looking forward to seeing the refurbished café when it reopens.

I cannot begin to tell you how absolutely AMAZING this place is. Wow! Just wow!Situated in South West Cornwall you could almost believe you were exploring in a foreign country. The place was stunning. I didnt want to post too many pics as I feel this place is a MIST visit. But you MUST book your ticket in advance.Careful of driving up to the location... Roads are VERY narrow! Parking at the top when you arrive though.Step down into another world as you walk the steps along the beautiful gardens towards the main stage! Then take a look over at the breathtaking sea/beach below! Crisp blue waters. Clear. Clean. The cafe was being done up when I visited with my Dad a couple of weeks ago but I'm sure this place will over a stunning view with the full windows looking out at sea!Think a ticket to visit was around £8.00 if you just wanted entry and the freedom to walk around.Take a pack up if you didn't wanna buy some of the basics available in the small shop offering tea/coffee and a few nibbles.100% must add to your list if you are visiting Cornwall.

michelle Carlin — Google review

We went to see a one-man show on a beautiful Monday afternoon and were absolutely blown away. Not only was the performance captivating, but the setting was truly spectacular.Situated with the ocean as its backdrop, this amphitheater offers a breathtaking scenery that enhances any performance. The natural beauty of the surroundings seamlessly blended with the artistry on stage, creating an unforgettable experience. If you have the opportunity to catch a show here, don't miss it.

We (Family of 4 - Girls are 11 and 13) had a great time here. We watched a show @ 10:30 about a lonely lighthouse keeper. Very entertaining, lots of audience involvement. The views are amazing - The photos do not do the views justice - You need to go and see them. We highly recommend.

James Morton-Sherwood — Google review

Glorious views from a stunning open air theatre. Well worth a visit if the weather is clear! You can walk around at your leisure, and the history and cafe are well done.

Sam Amis — Google review

This is a must see if you’re in the area or even if you’re not. Breathless views and stunning architecture, combined! I didn’t see a actual performance, however the was a gentleman given a a kind of performance telling his story and history of the theatre. Lots to see and can walk around exploring everything there. Lots of parking and staff was nice. Would advise going early before it gets busy.

William Fitzpatrick — Google review

Very beautiful. We made the sensible decision not to use our rental on this day but take the buses available as the drive would have been crazy. With that stress taken away, it was an amazing place. You could spend an hour exploring. The views are amazing. The staff were nice in the visitor area and nice exhibition about the history of the theatre. Unfortunately we went around the time of heat wave. I guess it will be even better in the autumn and winter months and to see a concert in action will be fantastic.

B — Google review

A beautiful theatre carved out of the cliffs. The acoustics are exceptional and the view outstanding. Parking is free if you're seeing a performance and very well planned out. It is a trek getting down to the seating area but the gardens have been filled with gorgeous succulents all the way down the concrete steps. The seating is either on grass or concrete, so a cushion is highly recommended, as is warm clothing if you are seeing an evening performance. Regardless of how warm it has been during the day, it will get very cold as the light fades. Take a picnic or take advantage of the refreshments on offer. No alcohol is on offer but you can take your own. The Minack is a 'must visit' even if you just visit to wonder at the magnificence of it all.

Steve Chorley — Google review

Called here on my trip around Cornwall, and it was very nice to see. We were lucky enough to get to see a cast practising their dance rehearsal. Extremely step steps and not very suitable for prams or people with mobility problems. There is a small coffee shop that sells some light snacks. The weather wasn't great when we went but we enjoyed it.

Darren Stevenson — Google review

This is really worth visiting to appreciate the effort involved and the beautifully designed & landscaped area.It feels a little steep at £10 each to walk around. But I guess this is a beautiful, high maintenance place. The Snack Shack was usefulCannot imagine what theatre goers endure when the weather is Inclement. I guess they all bring a Cushion & waterproofs!!

Warren Smith — Google review

A really special place! Had no idea about the history or how beautiful it actually would be but wow it really is breathtaking and managed to go on a good day in October! A bit expensive for drinks in the hut but it is very isolated and a lot of steps to run stock up and down from! Would definitely recommend going if you can! The museum was really worthwhile too

Carian Morris — Google review

We visited in awful weather and very quiet and it was still a wonderful experience.Disabled parking is at the very front of the carpark and there are several clever ramps for the disabled, push chairs or those who prefer not to use steps. When we looked up we saw it was advised to purchase tickets in advance. There is a £10 entrance fee per person, but if you give your email address they send you a printable ticket and you can reuse it again within one calendar year. You can then decide (depending on the weather) if you wish to have a coffee and a bite to eat and take in the stunning location. There are very clever nooks that have been created or the main seating area. My wife who loves a Mocha insists this "was almost as good as the ones we had in Scotland earlier in the year" and she hasn't stopped telling everyone how good that was!!Outside there is a small history of the construction and the origins of the theatre. A great read with videos to watch and excellent models on display. From here the steps start and are not so easy for anyone disabled or has issues walking. I'm sure there is a disabled toilet but I didn't see one so ask if you need it.There are toilets on this level and they are the cleanest I have ever seen with fresh flowers!!From here we didn't go any further as it was very wet and windy and there are many steps and some are very steep. But the view is spectacular and worth the visit.

King Cardinal — Google review

Such a beautiful place. Always enjoyed visiting. However a serious tourist hotspot so I'd go outside of peak times so you can enjoy it more. We took our 2 and 3 year old, a little challenging but the stairs wore them out.

Gemma Twinning — Google review

Loved the experience and scenery here! Was a great place to stop by and explore especially with the outstanding views that it had to offer. Only a small price to see and learn about the history of the landmark. It also has its own cafe and wall-through museum as well as daily performances for tourists. There is also a beach right down to the left of it which people could also go to after going through the area. Very cute and amazing views you can see and take pictures of!!

Had a brilliant night sat on top of a cliff in Cornwall. The Minack theatre is one of the jewels in Cornwall's Crown. It's beautiful and striking in its appearance. The view as you look from it is breathtaking, especially when seabirds fly past or the sea has white caps. The acoustics of the theatre are wonderful. Watching a performance or listening to music with the spectacular backdrop of nature.Helpful if it's a dry evening too.

Diane Brown — Google review

Enjoyed every minute of the entertainment. It's always worth remembering to bring warn clothes as outdoor, good shoes as lots of steps.Did have glasses knocked off on free for all on exiting.Do think need to re think exitingAlmost ruined evening 😪

Loved the Scottish performance of one actor. It was very funny and the teacher was full. Parking closes 30 min after the performance ends.Seating on the grass was interesting. Must see if in the area

Ags — Google review

Great theatre, great view. I will say that years ago they never used to charge for entry but now they want £10 per person to go in there. Just shows that everybody wants money, but I suppose you get that anywhere, which is unfortunate. Worth a visit if you've got a bit of time and don't mind paying money for something you never used to have to pay money for. They have managed to find a way to charge you for air in the UK so I cant say I'm surprised.

Julia Damtoft — Google review

Utterly spectacular experience, watching the sun go down over a funny lighthearted play.Take a cushion, a blanket and a snack! It gets very chilly when the sun goes down and the stone chairs are cold and hard. There is a place where you can grab food and drink but they had little left by the time we made it to the front of the queue.

Charlotte Jackson — Google review

One of the best tourist spots in Cornwall. Parking lot is available and easy to found. All staff were so nice polite and friendly. There were comedy show when i was visiting. No life, steps only. Dog friendly. Don’t miss their museum. Nice to hang around 1-2 hours. Buy and book ticket in advance. Highly recommended!!

Mission To Mace — Google review

A must visit when in Cornwall - with absolutely stunning views. The booking needs to be done atleast a day or two in advance through their website or phone .. Their is a time allotment and you are not allowed before that time. But once you enter you have no time limit. we had a very windy day but took break in between at their food cafe which had some great options even for vegetarians like us.

Sangini Shah — Google review

It's an amazing build and what a great idea. It has many steps to go up and down the theatre, but worth it. The views are stunning in every direction. If we are down there again, we will be booking a show as it must be something else to see while sitting on the side of the cliffs?

Desmond Boyle — Google review

Beautiful theatre with some great history and absolutely stunning veiws all around it will definitely be looking to watch a performance of some sort here when possible and I would highly advise booking tickets in advanced as they sell ou quickly especially in the holiday seasons

Shaun Edwards — Google review

Absolutely stunning views and I'm still amazed that this theatre was hand carved by three people: Rowena Cade, Billy Rawlins and Charles Thomas Angove.Enjoyed a delicious cream tea for one for £6 in the cafe on-site.Everyone working there was so friendly and Billy Rawlins was there to give a talk in the exhibition centre.

"Who knew Cornwall was more than just pastel houses and breathtaking beaches? It's a cultural hotspot too! Picture this: you're wandering through nature's finest, and suddenly stumble upon an opera or a theater performance. It's like stumbling upon a unicorn in your backyard – unexpected but absolutely magical! So, lace up those hiking boots and get ready to be blown away, not just by Cornwall's natural beauty, but also by its artistic charm. It's a cultural treasure hunt you won't want to miss!"

Jo legrandjo — Google review

Feels ancient, but was hand built by a lady 100 years ago. We just visited during the day for a look around and enjoyed the nice views. It was well with the entry free to climb up and down the amphitheatre.

A modern art gallery with stunning views of the sea and local and international artworks, Tate St Ives also has a cafe. The gallery is set in a historic building close to Porthmeor Beach and showcases works by some of St Ives most important and influential artists.

Best experienced out of season when it's quiet and the ambience is gentle, unrushed and you have time to engage with the knowledgeable staff. I love the natural setting of the garden, the insights into Hepworth process through her workshop and tools. It's a real gem.

It might be grey outside but it's BRIGHT inside. Some really interesting pieces but surprised that there's only one floor of art in a three storey building. Given London is free and could take you the whole day it seems odd for St Ives to charge £12.

Ralf Pearson — Google review

Great art exhibition with all styles of art and sculpture. Good cafe with lovely views over the bay and town. Usual gift shop too with many things to choose from. Worth a visit.

A brilliant Harbour town, postcard views, very traditional. Difficult to access in a car due to tight streets. Amazing local food vendors, coffee shops and restaurants. Fantastic beaches nearby that are walkable. Gets v busy in the summer.

Had guided tours of the new and very thought-provoking installation by Petrit Halilaj and also of the permanent modernist collection....it makes all the difference to your experience of this awesome place👩🏼‍🎨🌞

A pleasant surprise. The kids had a great time, under 18's are free. Added bonus that locals with proof of address can get a locals pass for £5.00.Entry included the Barbra Hepworh museum too.Definitely worth it for a years entry.Cafe food was nice, but expensive and limited choice. Kids sandwiches were premade and came with mayo. So I had one impressed child and one unhappy one. Other than that, service was quick and views amazing.

I visited the gallery whilst visiting st Ives and was pleasantly surprised with the range of arwork on display including paintings by Mondrian, Miro, Bacon and Picasso. I particularly enjoyed the Casablanca Art School Exhibition. A delightfully interesting building in a beautiful setting on St Ives seafront. And half price admission with my Art Fund Pass!

Janet Smith — Google review

A scenic and calm space to enjoy modern art on your day out in St Ives. It's a chill distraction from the busy tourist magnet that is the town, but also an enjoyable building to explore and absorb the various galleries of work by many different local and global artists.Booking is easy to do online and is recommended to be done in advance. Once you're inside, it's a typical contemporary white-walled setting which can be perceived as being sterile but it works fine here. There were plenty of colourful paintings and displays that were mostly abstract or themed based on certain ideals and subject matter, such as modern spirituality and regional or community importance. The best exhibition here at summer 2023 was by the Casablanca Art School, which featured works by artists highlighting the artistic rebirth following Moroccan independence. Also, Barbara Hepworth, Partou Zia, Hera Büyüktaşcıyan and more. You'll find diversity, historical significance and stories expressed in the art.It features a lot of Cornwall-related and Cornish inspired art that echoes the local community and landscape - as well as lands away from the UK.Many people who have visited Tate Modern in London will check this out of curiosity and familiarity, and while it's an enjoyable visit, it's definitely not the same in scale or as rich in quality. In comparison to other Tate buildings and museums in general, it certainly doesn't stand out in a major way. That's a subjective thing anyway. There's a great view of the beach and coastline from a seating area with massive windows. A nice cafe is inside too for a quick snack with a view before you press on.There isn't a dedicated car park but parking is easily available nearby in the form of; Porthmeor beach car park, Barnoon long stay car park (5 minute walk). As with a lot of St Ives roads, there's rarely any disabled parking spots for blue-badge holders, just a few.

Excellent value with a locals pass.Lose yourself amongst the artwork and travel the world through art.Art work has useful and informative descriptions with staff on hand to help explain and interpret the exhibits.Don't forget to visit the cafe not only a good section of foods but an amazing view over St Ives too.

Martin Stroud — Google review

I arrived in a storm, I walked 200 metres to the museum and was soaked from head to toe and blown up the ramp and into the front door. The Tate is a robust building on the seafront and obviously the safest place to be in a storm. There is a small gallery celebrating local and international art. The cafe has great views, delicious cakes and the cheery staff were singing along to ABBA. What more could you want.

MARK CLEMENTS — Google review

A magnificent building overlooking Porthmeor Beach. At the time of visiting (May 2023) a number of art works were being re hanged, therefore the admission prices were halved during this time. But we still enjoyed viewing the pieces that were available for us to view. We did not need to visit the Cafe on this occasion but we could see there was a lovely courtyard and outdoor seating area for visitors to enjoy their refreshments/food.

Natalie Pitts — Google review

A family visit , the Tate had several beautiful exhibits on, we saw work by artists we were familiar with and talented artists that were new to us. A lovely way to spend a half day

Nicola muir — Google review

Interesting shaped building. Art creates opinions. That it did. We didn't like alot of the exhibits. We felt that local artists in galleries around Cornwall produced more art we actually liked. Still. I'm glad we did it, as it was on my list of places I wanted to visit in St Ives. Overpriced. We found it sparked our sense of humour. Felt a bit pretentious.

Sally King — Google review

They have a lot to engage children. For example, in a room full of sculpture, they have magnetized toys for kids to build with. Other rooms, they have gadgets and prisms to look through at the art. They have sketch books and activities for children. The building is right on the beach. The building itself is built in the 80s and not my favorite architecture but their café has lovely views. We saw an exhibit by Outi Pieski with a docent that was going around and teaching everybody about her art art. We also love to explore the art of the Cornish artists. Great documentary on them on YouTube called the Art of Cornwall or something. Barbara Hepworth, Patrick Heron, Ben Nicholson, Alfred Wallis, and more. The gift shop was impressive. I wanted to buy everything. The staff was really nice. They welcome you and educate you. We had a great visit and are proud to have been to every Tate in England now.Your biggest difficulty will be parking in St. Ives. We always make sure to go when there’s no school holidays. There’s also a little train that comes into town that you could take in. I don’t know how to get on it, but it might be helpful to park outside and take the train in parking in Saint Ives could be an absolute nightmare. We’ve experienced it before.

Nettie Atkisson — Google review

I’m an artistic light weight, so I’m happy not to be overwhelmed by countless halls and galleries, although I would have liked a few less avant garde pieces. Whatever your views on contemporary art, you will enjoy the prominent viewpoint, especially from the shop and cafe. Worth a visit for that alone!

John Hemingway — Google review

For such a small gallary, it was surprisingly good and well thought out. There were also regular talks about some of the collections by curators, so check in advance for details. It is slightly expensive for the size, so you need to be sure the exhibits are to your taste.

A R — Google review

First time visiting Tate St Ives whilst on holiday in Cornwall. Our children loved the sketchbooks and free pencils - this certainly kept them busy whilst working through the gallery spaces. We loved the view from the top over to the beach.Compared to Tate Modern London (our nearest and usual place visit) it felt much smaller and required far less time to navigate. It was still a good experience, but it is free in London and costs us both as adults to enter.

Sean Mayes — Google review

My first time in a gallery and it didn't disappoint. Amazing place and the view out over the sea is amazing as well.

Karen Dunnings — Google review

Having visited the Tate St Ives a few times over the years, from school trips back in the day to returning once in a while in later years, we have seen some different exhibitions and works of art along the way.The artwork at the Tate St Ives is modern and particularly abstract. There is a balanced mix of themes throughout and Cornish inspired art. Alfred Wallis’ work and story was captivating. We find the art here does at times divide opinions and to be honest, much of the artwork did not appeal to us and left us wondering “seriously, I could do better than that”. But, that is probably what that particular artist was trying to achieve - debate or to provoke. This said, there were several pieces that did interest our imagination and thoughts. If anything, if the art work at the time of visiting doesn’t impress, the beautiful calm and clean white curves of the building with its stunning panoramic views over Porthmeor Beach certainly will. The colourful curved ‘Wall Drawing’ by the American artist Sol LeWitt was our favourite because of its vast colourful vibrancy. We had some camera fun with this one!The tickets here are reasonably priced, and you get a free return within the year. Being local, we also got a discount - sweet! The Tate St Ives does not have any parking facilities, but there is a couple of Cornwall Council car parks within walking distance. Link to car parks below. There is always a great chilled out vibe about this place, great activities for children that keeps them well occupied, the staff are very helpful and friendly, and it is generally a great place to enjoy. We visited back in July, but any time of year is a great time to visit this Tate.Whether you are into art or not, we would totally recommend this gallery!https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/transport-parking-and-streets/parking/cornwall-council-car-parks/council-car-parks-in-st-ives-including-carbis-bay

Porthmeor Beach Café is a beach café with panoramic views of the sea, perfect for watching the sunset or grabbing a bite to eat. With a relaxed and eclectic atmosphere, it's an atmospheric spot for dining in St Ives. Offering fresh seafood dishes and mouth-watering tapas options, it's perfect for sharing with friends. There's also outdoor seating where your furry friend can join in on the fun!

A fantastic experience at Porthmeor. We had breakfast at the Cafe and it was superb.Took a little while to get seated, but the food was absolutely worth it, cooked well and served quickly. Staff were polite and kind, and the view over the beach added to the experience.Parking is a nightmare, but it is everywhere in St Ives. Would highly recommend Porthmeor Cafe for good food with a view!

The restaurant above be sure to book in advance to secure a space, walk ups tend to have long waits. It's quite pricey, decent food but not anything that will be memorable but the views of the beach and the cosy nature of the place help my rating. Downstairs is a faster cafe style, still pricey and even less memorable, certainly better places only a 5minute walk away.

The most serene dinner at this beachfront restaurant, what a memorable find! Delicious food, great views - even spotted a seal in the waves!

We ordered the tapas, 10/10! Our favourite dishes where the Korean pork belly and the squid but all the dishes were amazing. We ate in a pod which was really nice In the not so great weather. The option for the heater was greatly appreciated. looking out to the sea whilst we ate was such a lovely experience! The waitress was so kind and charming. Speedy service! Not one bad thing can be said about our experience.

We went in for lunch with our dog so we sat on the terrace. Heaters were wall mounted as it was a bit chilly June. Highly recommend the hummus, squid, mackerel, beetroot and prawn and crab brioche. Staff are super efficient and friendly: Toilets are clean and are the same level. Amazing sea views of Porthmeor beach. It’s my favourite lunch destination and has been for a few years. Thanks

We found ourselves early for a trip to the Tate so nipped in here for a juice, hot choc and some cake.It can be very busy but it’s a nice little set up with the kitchen basically in the same area you sit in. The staff, whilst kept very much on their toes the whole time were polite and friendly.Great views over the beach.Hot chocolate was really good, and the billionaire cake was really nice 👌🏼

The Porthmeor Beach Café is a very nice higher end Cafe that provides some very nice food. They have indoor, balcony (that is under cover if raining) and some funky pods that are great for a family of 6 or under (they are open to the elements at one end). The Café takes walk-ins and bookings (to avoid disappointment my tip would be to book as it is very popular). Sadly with it being right on the beach side with a road behind there is no parking but there is a small public car park just up from it, but with it being the main surfing beach it is nearly always full.Hope this helps.

Incredibly executed food - 'simple tapas' - were turned into a firework of flavors, complemented by an amazing view and very attentive service.

Too many places rely on the view to deliver below average food and service. Not here! The Beach Cafe has it all. Spectacular setting but delivers exceptional food the youngsters in front of house are delightful and professional. Particular thanks to Amy who looked after us on Friday and Milly today (Wed). We love St Ives and the Brach Cafe was the icing on the cake (kids surfing while we hydrated!!!). Thank you!

We were fortunate to get a table on New Year's Eve for lunch in this perfect spot to dine. I had the hake, prawn and mussel bouillabaisse and my wife had the chick pea dahl. Both were absolutely delicious. Staff were very well organised and attentive. We will definitely return and highly recommend.

Wow, what a perfect evening! We visited last with my husband and son.We had booked months in advance for here.We were 10 minutes early, but our table was ready, and we had a warm welcome. Our view from our table was amazing! All of the inside tables are by the window.Wine was lovely, kids menu good. My 5-year-old had sausage and chips and beans with some milk.We went for the tapas! The hake! The prawns! Basically, everything was devine.Food arrived within 15 minutes, which was fab! Chocolate tart was also delicious.Everything was fantastic, service, food, atmosphere, and evening. This is the best meal we have had on holiday this week.It wasn't cheap, but well worth the treat.Perfect!

Our favourite restaurant in st ives! The food here is always amazing - we come every year. One tip is to book as far in advance as you can as tables get booked up quickly. We always opt for the tapas over the main dishes as it’s just our preference but they always look great. The tapas is delicious and they often change the menu so there are different bits to try. A few favourites are the squid, prawns and the Aranchini which is one of the best we’ve ever eaten. It’s a pretty casual setting even in the evening which gives it a nice relaxed feel. The service is warm and friendly and they always have lots of staff on which means it’s quick too! There’s a good choice of drinks including local wines and a small co*cktail menu. We will be back next year!

The Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden is a revered art gallery located in St. Ives, Cornwall, England. It preserves the work of Dame Barbara Hepworth, a prominent artist of the late 20th century, within her original studio that opened its doors to public in the mid-1970s. The museum showcases abstract and often organic sculptures made by Hepworth using stone, wood and bronze.

Amazing place preserved as a piece of history for all to enjoy. You get to see how Hepworth lived and worked in this beautiful studio space and garden. It’s filled with her work dotted around the wholes space. The garden is beautiful and very peaceful. We arrived early and I would recommend doing the same as it was getting quite busy by the time we were leaving.

Like the Tate St Ives, we have visited this museum and gardens on several occasions over the years since we were kids…and if you’re visiting one, you may as well visit them both!Unlike the Tate St Ives with its ever changing artists, artwork, themes, and exhibitions, the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden never changes. It is like an artist’s work stuck in time, and quite simply, always amazes. This unassuming property is the gateway to a lush and serene secret garden, filled with beautiful vistas and an amazing collection of sculptures, located in the heart of St Ives. You could be forgiven for thinking the tranquil garden is miles away from the tourist ladden streets of the ever popular fishing town. The home now turned museum is laid out with a fascinating timeline of photographs, letters, facts, events, and drawings, giving you a real insight into the life and history of Barbara Hepworth and her association with St Ives. Venturing up a narrow flight of cottage stairs, the bedroom is elegantly laid out with several smaller sculptures and more interesting features and facts. Heading out of the museum and into the courtyard, the old workshop and glasshouse is set back to the right, and a path leads left and into the garden where you can walk amongst Barbara’s sculptures. The old timber-framed glasshouse, filled with large mature house plants, is awesome. The size of some of those house plants is incredible - we loved this area. The garden too, as well as hosting several amazing sculptures, contains a wonderful variety of mature trees and shrubs. The trees are sculptures in themselves and provide a unique balance to this beautiful environment. We visited this museum and sculpture garden back in early July 2023, just after visiting the Tate St Ives (Check out review on the Tate St Ives). Although it was mid afternoon, we did not have to wait and again, entry is reasonably priced. We would highly recommend, and will most definitely return again and again!

Another lovely place of Cornwall in St. Ives is this very beautiful and inspiring Barbara Hepworths museum and sculpture garden. I loved the stone sculptures and the gallery. Also, we can see the Trewyn studio where she worked and then passed away due to a fire in the studio. The staff over here are lovely too.

Yasmin L — Google review

On a blustery rainy September day in St Ives, the museum was a lovely haven. Small in size like a gem, it was wonderful to see her studio, her tools, and of course, the finished pieces in the garden. Guides were very generous with their knowledge and time and made the entire experience quite enjoyable.

Julia Kim Kane — Google review

Great experience. This museum is dedicated to the art and life of a woman who devoted her life to sculpture. Here you will find her work, studio and even her bedroom.

Tatjana Torkel — Google review

If you up to art that is a must see place in St. Ives. Very interesting, unique opportunity to actually see a Barbara Hepworth workshop, her very own tools and place where she worked and died.

Szymon Jeziorski — Google review

Very compact and beautiful sculpture garden. Inside there is information about and the history of the artist. Upstairs is a studio with some pieces. Outdoor is a path winding through a lush and somewhat wild garden. There are many sculptures. It was a peaceful and pretty place to visit. Definitely worth a visit.

karen savage — Google review

The most beautiful house and gardens with an amazing selection of Barbara Hepworth’s work. Even in the rain, it was lovely to wander around and find a moments peace. I was also able to use my Art Pass for 50% off my ticket. This was the absolute highlight of my trip to St Ives!

Rachel Wells — Google review

A wonderful place to visit. The people working in the museum are so knowledgeable, friendly and passionate. Hepworth was such an interesting person too, as well as an incredibly talented artist. I highly recommend this hidden gem.

We really enjoyed our visit: so interesting to learn about the artist's life and see the space in which she lived and worked. Beautiful gardens. Reasonably priced.

£7.50 entrance fee for seniors. Well worth a visit! Follow the signs and when they disappear ask in a local shop.

John Mackman — Google review

Not too expensive to visit the home of this wonderful artist. Her small garden is dotted with her wonderful sculptures. Definitely worth a visit if you're in St Ives.

Raj Jas — Google review

If you get there just as it opens you can get a tranquil 30 minutes before the hoards arrive! It is exceptionally popular and for a good reason as it’s still a beautiful garden to visit. It’s been a long time since I was last there and the garden planting is much more structured and controlled especially around the pond area. The main living space is beautiful too.

Alison Medd — Google review

Early May is a great time to visit this beautiful spot. The cherry blossom and the arum lilies in the garden set off the sculptures beautifully. The house itself has a small collection of interesting art works and a useful introduction to the artist and her work in the entrance area.

Valerie Clark — Google review

Loved seeing her art in her environment, beautiful garden with lots of her work.

Colin MacDonald — Google review

A beautiful experience! Stunning artworks in just the perfect garden environment. We visited with my son, and it was his first taste of true culture. All 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

Carbis Bay Beach is a stunning and serene beach with great swimming conditions and lovely Palm-lined shores. It's perfect for a relaxing day in the sun, whether you're down on the sand or enjoying some of the local eateries & hotels.

⭕️This place (the beach, the city) made this summer much more beautiful and unforgettable. ❤️😍A very quiet place🌿, very clean, the sand is so soft, the rocks at the edge of the beach make you think you have the mountain behind you, and the way down to the beach is such a beautiful experience🍃. The view from the top of the beach is wonderful🤩. I will definitely visit this place again, and this time I have to catch the sunset and the sunrise.🧡☀️

Maargiana Nicoleta — Google review

The beach was OK and not as good as the others in the area for swimming, washroom facilities was an advantage and the tap outside to wash off sand. The private car besides the beach was a scam (£20) for day, nobody stays all day! The hiring equipment was reasonably priced. One steep hill to climb back to the nearest council car park.

Ismail Hans — Google review

Absolutely beautiful beach with crystal clear waters! One of the best beaches I have ever seen in England and a must visit if the weather is right! Highly recommended if you visit St ives

Actual Jackson — Google review

Everyone should experience it to the level quality service and stunning location.

Lisa Owen — Google review

Amazing beach with beautiful clear water. Lots of water sports on offer on the beach. The water was very calm on the day we went so was perfect for paddle boarding which was roughly £12. This was my kids favourite beach. There are shops and cafes you can buy pizza, sandwiches, ice cream and drinks. There is a train that stops just by the beach. We would highly recommend Carbis Bay for a great family fun day out.

Carissa Rupra — Google review

Managed to time the weather perfectly in September. Gorgeous beach with plenty of food choices. Parked up the hill, which meant hat I couldn't walk for the next 2 day, but apart from that- fantastic!

Steve Kirk — Google review

This beach is one of my favourite places in the country. If you're staying in St Ives it's a 2 mile walk along the coastal path with staggering scenery all along the route. The beach is spotlessly clean. No dogs are allowed on the beach. Toilets and cafe are there for public use. If you don't fancy the walk back the train station is just up the road and will take you back for a quid.

eric jones — Google review

You can't fault this beach. Such a gorgeous treasure. The waves are very gentle, not as strong as other Cornish beaches. If you climb up to the rocks on the left, you can catch some crabs too.

Duc Toan Nguyen (Benjamin) — Google review

My favourite bay in St. Ives. Smaller than the other beaches and less busier, there’s always a good spot available even during busier times. Washing facilities and a small car park close to the beach. The walk to the beach can be tricky for the less able, especially on the way back. However wherever possible I’d suggest walking and using public transport, Carbis Bay railway station is a short 5-10 minute walk from the beach.

Whether you're looking for water sports activities, beachside cafes and restaurants, or simply a peaceful spot to relax and take in the breathtaking views, Carbis Bay has it all. The surrounding coastal paths and scenic walks provide additional opportunities to explore the area's natural beauty. What sets Carbis Bay Beach apart is its proximity to the charming town of St. Ives. I highly recommend visiting this picturesque beach and exploring all that it has to offer.

Lovely beach with lovely restaurant and bar, the walk down is very steep, parking £15 for the day, but never any space ,lots of surfing, clean beach, if you have a problem with hill's don't go it's just too steep. Small train station which is lovely.

Karen O'Connor — Google review

Beautiful beach. However, it is worth noting that it is privately owned. This means it can be closed for certain functions.

Theo George — Google review

Absolutely stunning beach and my favourite on a short break across Cornwall. Beautiful and colourful, with an epic hill and greenery, easy to access steps that take you down to the beach, and interesting rock formations. A picture-perfect pretty sky viewpoint for a summer day, enjoyed a lovely sunset here with snacks and drinks. There's a train line that runs overhead from St Ives to Carbis Bay that adds to the scenery and vibe.

Azaan Zia — Google review

A quite beautiful spot to spend some time with family and friends. A little hard to get to though, and parking is 20£ no matter how long you stay, which is ridiculous. Some people tend to leave their belongings at the beach. Pizza can be bought at a small takeaway at the beach. Prices for that were fine but they ask 5£ for a small and simple bottle of anything.

T. S. — Google review

Gorgeous wide expanse of clean, fine white sand - perfect for sandcastle building and sand sculpting! Strong winds and big waves when we visited so worth taking windbreaks and warm layers, even on a sunny day. We parked - free after 4pm - in the car park at the top of the hill. Steep descent to the beach; not accessible and a tough hill climb for myself, as an able asthmatic on the way back. Well worth it though: we'd definitely go back.

Faye Ashton-Wright — Google review

One of the best kept 'secrets' in UK beaches... Close your eyes and you're in the Caribbean or the southern Mediterranean. The walk down to the beach can put a person off... It really is a mission, however the beach is worth it. Waters are really still and the sand is clean, white and soft.

Island

Sights & Landmarks

St Michael's Mount, located off the coast of Cornwall in England, is a charming rocky island that boasts a small village, medieval church and castle. This iconic site is comparable to France's Mont Saint-Michel due to their shared history as tidal islands and monasteries. St Michaels Mount was gifted by Edward Confessor to the Benedictine order who inhabited Mont Saint-Michel in the 11th Century and has been a popular pilgrimage destination over time.

A visit here is mandatory of you're in Cornwall! We walked across the causeway as the tide was out, easy enough walk but can be a bit slippery so take care!As National Trust members we entered for free saving £48 on the dual tickets for the gardens and castle. Parking was £5 for 5hrs so not too bad either.Once across we were greeted by very helpful staff who checked us in and then explained where to go for the gardens and castle. We opted for the garden route first, which, although quite treacherous in places with steep small steps and rugged terrain, is spectacular! The colours, the vast array of succulents, and the work that's put into this garden is nothing short of outstanding 👍 just make sure you wear decent footware, we actually saw someone fall over walking round, but they were wearing flip flops, and that really isn't suitable for the gardens, or the castle! On to the castle itself, this is a real good steep climb up quite an uneven stone pathway but there are handrails most of the way up and down. Again, suitable footwear helps a lot.Once up to the castle the views are spectacular and do not disappoint at all!The walk through the insides of the castle is both interesting and thought prevoking as to what life would have been like living there all those years ago. Well worth the walk round, and definitely worth it for the views.A little mention to the cafe as well, served a lovely hot coffee ☕ something you'll definitely need after going round both the gardens and castle. All in all we were there for around 4hrs, so great value as a National Trust member. We also had to catch the boat back due to the tide being in which was £2.50 each...a little steep really as you're literally on the boat for under 5 minutes, but obviously don't have any way back otherwise apart from waiting for the tide!Would love to visit again at a different time of year to see the garden, but I think the castle is just a once seen type of place.

Dave London — Google review

Increíble location that is totally worth visiting if you're in Cornwall. Check the tide charts to see when the walkway is open, or catch a ferry for a few pounds if you miss it. The island is incredible, I'd definitely recommend taking the tour of the castle and learning about its old history.

Bryce Schaefer — Google review

Nice but ... A bit of a rip off .. half cup coffee ☕ see pic .hadn't drank any and that was it 😡.... Had to get boat back which was nice didn't go to castle or gardens at them prices . But worth the walk to see ..just take your own coffee

Beautiful island, amazing surrounding beach. It's in a lovely location. And the garden there is well looked after. It's a great location for a day out and lots to see. Had a really nice trip here. And definitely would visit again. Weather was mild but we had sun and Beautiful reflections off the sea waters

RMB — Google review

The day we visited was very cold, windy and there was a bit of drizzle. We visited in February so the Castle and Gardens were closed.Tide times on the day we went were 11.45 - 3.45 - walking only, no boat available to the Mount. If you are a wheelchair user, you cannot cross using the paths it is very uneven, with lots of dips and holes. It was very difficult to use a buggy to get across - if you have a toddler, who is newly walking, it is difficult for them to walk across, and it's a long way to carry them, but don't be put off, as it is still an interesting walk across. The grounds of the Mount were more easily accessible with the pushchair. They had a guided tour of the grounds in the early afternoon which took around 30 minutes - which was free. There is a shop, cafe, gallery and museum on the Mount too.All the people we encountered were very friendly.Parking nearby in a 3 hour maximum short stay car park or a long stay car park. Both just park, pay on the machine or via app.

Gemma — Google review

Very interesting place and loved walking around the castle and gardens. The food was really good as well, maybe a bit pricey. We walked both ways from the island. It's steep but not very high so manageable for most people and well worth it

Mark Lamb — Google review

What an absolute gem. The place is incredible and well worth a visit. It was great the hear the history behind it and the Castle was stunning. My favourite had to be the church. Staff were friendly and informative.

princesskenyon6 — Google review

The garden is spectacular. The castle worth a visit if you love the old history. The staff were amazingly helpful and knowledgeable.

Sammy H — Google review

What an absolute treasureTide dictated that we travelled by boat to the island and were able to walk back along the causeway at low tide. I recommend doing both if possible. We spent almost 4 hours on the island. It is lovely to explore the castle and also the interesting gardens. Would love to visit again.

Liz — Google review

One for the bucket list, and if you are into your castles or scenery, this place is amazing. To get to it, you have to wait for the tide to go out so you can walk on the path to it. Viewing points all over. You don't have to book your tickets online as we asked on the day.Parking, we stayed in the 3 hour max short stay Car park, which was long enough 👍There are a few shops and a couple of cafes on the island which do an amazing Cornish Cream Tea! (See photo's attached)We only paid to see the castle as the gardens are separate, but that's all you need to do. Really, as the views from the castle, you can see the gardens. (Top Tip) Save your money! The path to the castle is quite steep on the island, so those who are hard of walking be warned!Inside the castle, there is plenty to look at. See the photos attached for snippets.Happy I have been here, and I would highly recommend anyone to visit it.

James Gledhill — Google review

We visited in March so off season. We checked the website before hand to check when we were able to walk the causeway due to tides. Dogs are welcome during off season too. Castle was closed though but would love to visit another time

Sophie B — Google review

As stunning as it looks from a distance. Enjoyed the whole experience, from the boat trip across the views from the top & the varieties of succulents in the garden.

Sharon Ansdell Miller — Google review

Definitely a trek up to the castle as it's cobblestone and up a major hill. There are benches for resting throughout and handrails for the really steep areas. This castle is special as it has a walk path that can be used during low tide. I was really hoping to experience both high and low, but it was the boat ride for us (not that I'm complaining b/c I absolutely love boats)! We did not tour the gardens except for seeing them from above in the castle, but from what we saw they were stunning. This place is definitely worth a visit.

K Elf — Google review

Absolutely fantastic place. This is a national trust treasure. The staff here explained some stories and gave detailed descriptions about the rooms within the building. Beautiful views.

Rich J — Google review

Highly recommend visiting. Check the tide times and book if you want to go into the gardens and castle. You cannot take a dog into the gardens or castle as it’s National Trust property. We walked across the causeway but you can take a boat trip over and back if the tide is in.Gardens are beautiful, lots of steep steps and paths. The path up to the castle is steep cobbles so quite uneven. The castle is lived in so areas are roped off - it is beautiful and definitely worth walking through.

Deb Coates (Maid in Cornwall) — Google review

A definite must visit if in Cornwall.Breath taking scenery, and perhaps a breath taking climb for those of the less than active persuasion. But so worth it.I totally recommend taking in both castle and garden and also walking out the causeway at low tide. It's not cheap, buts it's certainly worth it if you spend the time.

Fergal Heslin — Google review

Wow what a historic place, great family day out, one has to be ready to climb a steep pebbled path, please use good walking shoes as it’s very dangerous when wet.Amazing views from the top of the mount, has a lot of history so don’t forget to ask questions to the guides who are very knowledgeable and helpful. When the tide is gone it’s a nice walk back along the stone path.

Alfred Fernandes — Google review

Really nice day out but it's overpriced for what it offers. The cafe also had a pitiful gluten-free range. The ferry boats were very reliable and regular, the climb was easy. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend going as early as possible to avoid the crowds.

Luke Beale — Google review

Very expensive to park here and a really expensive cafe on the mount, expect to be ripped off. Having said that fantastic views and a very interesting visit. You need to book your tickets before your visit

John Stewart — Google review

Do not visit without tickets...I'm extremely disappointed... Every website and blog states that this place is free to visit, where you would only pay for the castle and gardens...We wanted to take our son across the causeway, look around the island at the views and grab some lunch in the cafe.We were stopped on the other side saying we needed tickets. I explained we didn't want to visit the gardens or castle as we have a toddler and it's not suitable but wanted to have some lunch and spend money in the cafe. We were firmly told we needed a ticket for this! And asked to leave.Previous years we have visited the cafe and explored without tickets. It was £14 to use the cafe which was ridiculous.Website needs to be clearer! Not sure why you would turn customers away from using the cafe. I was a grim rainy day also and seemed very quiet.

Mrs Foster — Google review

Great castle 🏰 and amazing experience. The tickets to get to the castle with a boat it was 17£, but I can say that it was worth it.When we arrived here the road to the castle was under water. Around 5 o'clock pm we started back and the road was absolutely dry. Magical 🧙‍♀️

Boban Vasilevski — Google review

We visited this place on Saturday - and only upon reaching for to know it is shut every Saturday for the people who stay there to give them some privacy - guess we didn’t do our research well enough 😛But even though we had a good time - the outside of it and walking on the stones with beach on two sides - felt underwhelming than what was marketed about this place.Maybe it was just a wrong day to go but I wouldn’t go back here again. The expectations vs reality was very different.

Sangini Shah — Google review

Nice views, castle, and history. It will take at least 2 hours. The walkway disappears at high tide so their hours change. I suggest buying tickets before hand and checking hours before you go.

Peter Knight — Google review

I felt like I was on the set of the TV series Game of Thrones. I think I saw a place like this in the TV series. The day we went, the castle was closed, but its shops and front garden were open. It is a historical place and the town is incredibly beautiful. quiet and serene place. Who knows what wars have passed through here in the past? A place to go with family. One of the beautiful blue seas of England. Because there were horse farms nearby, people were riding horses on the beach that day. This can also be a nice place for those who love sports.

osman bahriyeli — Google review

The day we visited was a glorious Day, that made it a much more enjoyable day as we all know too well with the British weather is so unpredictable! We walked across as it was low tide, we just made it as the water was eating the footpath away rather quickly! We had to book the return by boat in advance, that in itself was a enjoyable experience. You have a choose of going to the gardens or the castle or both just pay accordingly, we did the castle but wished we had done the gardens too as it looked absolutely wonderful from a castle window looking down at the gardens!By the time we were done, the tides had come in, we got on the boat and had a nice relaxing ride back to shore, all in all a fantastic day!

C. W — Google review

Beautiful island . Beautiful views from the islands . They have a very good garden . The place is accessible by foot during low tide , when the tides are high they do provide the boat services. You need tickets even though you just want to look around the island . Either book for the castle or the garden visit . Without tickets there won't be an entry even to use the cafe .

Teju Br — Google review

An awesome day. We really enjoyed the boat ride over and walking the grounds and around the castle. So much history and amazing views. The price for the boat and entry were reasonable and the food at the restaurant was not over priced and was very tasty. The climb up is quite steep and those with mobility issues may be challenged. I would ring before buying tickets. The walk back over the causeway was excellent.

Mark C — Google review

You just can't do everything when travelling in the UK with the entry prices and parking so at £15 each ($31 each) we decided to just do the walk up the causeway and back which was ok but I don't really think it's worth a detour unless you want to go into the castle and grounds

St. Ives Bay, situated in the UK, is renowned for its crescent bay featuring a lengthy sandy beach, various villages and the Godrevy Lighthouse. It is an incredibly scenic location with some of the country's finest beaches that are all definitely worth your time. The region offers a wide range of activities to engage in and has ample space for exploration.

We visited here for the day while staying in hayle. It was really nice, just extremely busy but I imagine if you was staying here then later on when the trains stop you would be able to enjoy it for all its beauty. I would say it's whitby with really nice weather. There after lots of little shops and restaurants as week as ice cream parlours.

St Ives is what I imagined Cornwall looked like before visiting. Lovely sand beaches, blue sea, clear skies, pretty stone town with cobbled streets. The light seemed very clear and bright here I noticed. I even seen a seal swimming around the harbour popping it's head up from time to time. Trouble is it's that nice a place, everyone else likes it and it can get very packed with limited parking.

Darren Dring — Google review

Generally a proper seaside town, with little hidden historic gems. Still too little busy for me

Giusy Cammarano — Google review

Crystal clear beaches, amazing scenery. We visited at the end of May and got full sunshine throughly our visit. This beach is the busiest along the coastline, as it has a mini high street on Fort St. which is a 2 minute walk from the beach. Plenty of restaurants to choose from unlike other beaches nearby. I would advise getting the local train or public transport service to the area, as parking is limited.

Visitors can get up close with a diverse range of creatures including parrots, penguins, red pandas, donkeys, red squirrels, Asian otters, mini donkeys, pygmy goats, rabbits and guinea pigs.

Very good birds of prey display.Very good conservation efforts. The penguin feeding could be better if they walked around as they fed them so everybody gets a closer view. The staff were very helpful, even radioing for a Gardner to help me identify a plant I saw and liked. The Macaws get really close when they come out so good for photos with the kids.

Our family had the best day here. We usually speed through places and feel we haven’t spent much time at an attraction, but we stayed here until the park closed. There were lots of birds and animals to see. The park is really clean, and we were able to get round everywhere with our daughter’s wheelchair. Our children are 14, 11 and 4 and all absolutely loved their time at the park. We were blown away by the fact a few members of staff took the time to show our daughter with special needs some of their treasured birds. This meant the world to us as a family and we will treasure the memories. The play barn was really good fun, and we were able to get some great food at the café. We really enjoyed the shows and the team’s passion for the birds was very clear and really magical. A really special day out for the whole family.

This is an amazing place to spend with the Family; great many things to do. From enjoying the education animal exhibits, to attending the various Public Programs, beautiful grounds, and even Indoor recreation areas, Paradise Park has it all. Most importantly they support the conservation of the Natural habitats of the parrot species on exhibit with the World Parrot Trust

ADOPTA Bosque — Google review

Paradise Park in Cornwall is a true treasure. It is an exceptional destination with a team of dedicated staff who are fully committed to their mission. Despite its compact size, the park offers an impressive range of attractions, and we were astounded by the remarkable health of the birds and the immaculate cleanliness throughout, particularly in the jungle Barn. The affordability of the prices was also a pleasant surprise. Overall, our visit exceeded our expectations, and we had a truly wonderful day.

This place is great! We go every year, every time we visit cormwall. The staff are lovely and know a lot about their birds. The place is clean and tidy. Free parking, cafe, gift shop, and outside park. They have a great indoor play barn also with a cafe, with lots to do for the kids to blow off steam.Disabled access, and you can get wheelchairs and pushchairs around easily. We love seeing all the birds. The up close show is amazing for both adults and kids. Where they have the brids flying around the crowd. You can feed the lorakets for an up close personal touch for a £1 or 2, just the price of their food.I love that all the money they get goes into the park and the animals they have there. And you can see they are passionate about looking after them.My partner, 4 children, and I really enjoy this every year.

This place has THE BEST Red Panda experience. Amazingly lucky to meet their 3 girls. Donna and Natalie were great. Got loads of photos and we never felt rushed! They donate lots of money to Red Panda Network and other Animal programs so its great to support the work they do.The rest of the park was great and would definately recommend for those with children.

Nick Lake — Google review

Absolutely amazing, free flying show was great, and the children loved it!Great atmosphere and great staff. Fun barn was also good for the children

Ashlee Rawles — Google review

An amazing day out, I would highly recommend making a day of it and going to all the available shows and events throughout the day. The birds of prey show is a must and the feeding of the lorikeet is one of the best experiences in the whole park. The price is reasonable with a lot on offer.

Sam Coombe — Google review

A fantastic day out for all the family. Great indoor play area. So many things to see and do.An incredibly well run park that kept us entertained for the whole day. I thought we'd be there for a few hours but stayed until closing time.I'd definitely recommend a visit no matter what age your children are.

Chris Earl — Google review

Such an amazing place to visit with kids. We go every time when were in Cornwall! The animals are well looked after and the absolute highlight for us is the great red pandas. They have a mother with two daughters and they are just gorgeous. Highly recommend to visit!

Diana Domogatskaya — Google review

Lovely to visit, lovely staff full of knowledge always willing to talk and explain on a range of things. Amazing to see and hear all kinds of birds and many other creatures ,meet the lambs ,feed the goats and have a chat with a couple of the featherd residents, You heard right chat, always happy to say "hello".The indoor play zone is kept well and clean plenty of tables with cafe ,shop on site ,and so much play equipment, the kids can wear themselves out whilst you sit, drink and be merry on the knowledge that bedtime will not be a problem .

A really great place for a family day out even on a chilly February day. Staff were helpful and friendly. The otters and the penguins were a big hit, particularly at feeding time. Lots of animals of interest and the kids enjoyed feeding the goats and sheep. The Jungle Barn was also very good, the kids loved it and played on the equipment totally absorbed for ages. The staff were taking great care to keep the place clean. Cafes were good for standard fare with friendly and efficient service from the staff. Well-stocked gift shop. We bought our tickets on arrival, no problem.

Charlotte Hubbard — Google review

Paradise Park is a great place to visit for all ages, you need to book the Jungle Barn if you've got little ones wanting to have a run around in the soft play area. The morning session is usually a bit quieter. Then the park itself has an incredible range of birds of paradise on show, along with some adorable additions, such as otters, red pandas and a farm section. There's always a fun quiz to do on your way round to learn more about the animals and birds in their care. Highly recommended 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Katy Smith — Google review

This is a lovely little place to visit. They have something going on every hour or so where you can be part of. Feeding penguins, watching the eagle fly, feed the small birds yourself with nectar.Kids will love it. There's a Cafe too

Amazing experience with breathtaking views. Visited Cornwall during the summer and decided to go kayaking, definitely worth it. We had our own private tour and the kayak was high quality. Changing facility provided. Highly recommend.

We had Koru and another supplier on our shortlist for kayaking. On recommendation, we're so glad we went with Koru.Isaac and Toby were great; very knowledgeable, very passionate and took us on a great trip.Wetsuits and booties included, safety precautions considered and a bit of seal spotting meant we had a perfect start to our day. Thanks, we loved it!

We’ve just come back from our SUP tour around Port Navas…and beyond. 1 total beginner and 2 of us who had been before. It was absolutely brilliant! Really well explained at the beginning to get everyone going and so much fun on the river. Thank you so much for a fantastic afternoon 😀

Happy Days — Google review

Superb trip, really enjoyed it, Toby & Cam were amazing, knowledgeable, helpful and very caring (especially Cam hanging back for us not so fast rowers). Was beautiful to see the Cornish coast from the other side and we visited some superb caves and crevasses.Would highly recommend the trip.

Martyn Wood — Google review

Fantastic trip with Isaac at St Agnes. Felt like very good value with the inclusion of wetsuits. Very friendly on the phone when booking.

Kat Macann — Google review

Have just returned from a brilliant sea kayaking tour around the North coast with Tom, from start to finish the whole experience was brilliant! Tom soon made everyone feel welcome and after a brief safety talk we were out on the water. Tom clearly knows what he is talking about and gave wonderful commentary about the different coves, caves and mines along the coast. I would strongly recommend this experienced; have done numerous water-sport activities around Cornwall and this is one of the best!

Friendly team, we went out on one of their kayak tours, our guide was great company, knows the area well. If you are looking to go kayaking these guys are great

Fantastic experience from St Agnes! Tom was a brilliant guide and delivered a great tour, with many facts along the way. If you have kayaked before or not, the tour is fun, challenging and insightful. I would highly recommend to any couple/family looking for a different way to view the beautiful Cornish coastline.During our visit, social distancing was in place and it was a safe environment.

Kayaking at Helford with Tom was a great activity, well informed and beautiful location. Totally enjoyed the time.

Jon Hall — Google review

My Partner and I had a very enjoyable kayaking experience with Koru Kayaking. Due to a change in the weather our trip had to be relocated from St Agnes to Helford River but nonetheless it turned out great. Emma was our instructor and she was extremely welcoming & friendly, we had a small mixed group of people who all stopped to enjoy lunch and drinks after together. Highly recommended.Siri& Michael

Kynance Cove on the Lizard Peninsula is a beautiful, sandy beach that is popular for sightseeing and swimming. The cove features rugged coastal scenery with islets and sea stacks, making it one of the most picturesqueCornish beaches.

Wow! Absolutely stunning place, full of amazing scenery and outstanding natural beauty.A real hidden jewel nestled away on the Cornish coastine. I would recommend visiting, whatever the weather, for the scenery and to take some pictures if nothing else.Stunning!

Absolutely blown away by the beauty of the place!Amazing for swimming and generally messing about in the sea. So many little hidden gems to find from pools to caves.Nice little cafe too

Brian Thornton — Google review

One of the finest cove beaches in the country. Worth the walk but watch the tides very carefully. Found this bottle on the second beach after the tide had cut it off. If it's yours let me know.

Jeremy Bradley — Google review

Such a lovely part of the world. A real nice natural beach below the cliffs. Waters are beautiful and when the sun shining there is no better place to be. The walls along the cliff tops are stunning as you head to lizard Point. Look out for the seals along the coast.

Kristian Barton — Google review

Beautiful place, you can climb to the top of the rock but it's pretty dangerous. The beach disappears when the tide is high, you can walk across to the inner beach when the tide is lower, there's like a 6 hour window around low tide when the beach is available. You need to jump across the water to get there. Parking is free with a national trust membership.

J M — Google review

A place I’ve always wanted to visit and it disappoint even though the weather wasn’t the best. The sea is the most amazing colour. The rock stacks add the drama. The little cafe is lovely, a great way to look down before tackling the walk back up to the carpark.

Donna Lee — Google review

An absolute must when visiting Cornwall! Go when it is low tide - walk around and explore the caves and mermaid pools! So peaceful and tranquil!

Peter Dowling — Google review

Absolutely stunning beach, be sure to swim or wade across to the right through the rocks to the sand bar as the tide goes out, amazing to see the waves come in from both sides, this can s easily be missed. Parking is National Trust so members can use for free. Toilets in the carpark & down at the beach behind the cafe. Either walk down the path to steps going down to the beach or longer path which is more suitable for pushchairs. Highly recommended.

Ian Beckly — Google review

Parking machine takes coins only or if you're an NT member you can obviously park for free. I luckily had enough cash on me!The walk down is quite steep, we went at low tide to see the whole beauty of the beach and it didn't disappoint! Very steep walk back up but the views are amazing!

Natalie Walsh — Google review

A lovely location to stop off with a cafe serving good grub next to the cove. Caution on the walk down, it can be step and during high tide involves some rock scrambling - take good footwear. The car park is cash or phone payments only, but signal can be bad in that area. The parking is far from ample and can get busy quickly.Good place to perhaps see a seal as we did on our visit.

Ashley Gregory — Google review

Absolutely breath taking views! Stayed to watch the sunset. Will definitely visit again ❤️

Fran Jeffery — Google review

Wow what a place, good parking and facilities. Really nice walk down and path for wheel chairs or prams. Little cafe at the bottom. Check the tide times as if it’s in there is no beach or access to the beach.

Tim Phillips — Google review

Love this place. One of my most favourite places in Cornwall. Had my first snorkeling experience here and what a place to start! Not too long a walk from the car park & a wonderful cafe too.

Juanita Barden — Google review

Great place to visit at low tide, wouldn't recommend for people with mobility issues as lots of walking and steps down to the cove, there is a longer, flatter path down but it's uphill on way back. Lovely cafe with great food and fantastic views. Make sure you check the NT car park times, as we had to give someone a lift back as their car got locked in the overflow field carpark and no way of contacting anyone.

Julie Osullivan — Google review

Spectacular bay. Nice big national trust run car park. Alternative walks down to the beach…short route , quite steep in places, long way (0.5km) a bit more gentle. Either way it is well worth the effort. Beautiful sandy bay. Little caves. Lovely cafe that does amazing pasties. Great waves if you want to mess about in the surf..some were managing to get up on their feet.

Dave Kingston — Google review

A definite place to visit if you're in Cornwall. Amazing views on the walk down to the beach.Had traditional cream teas at the cafe which were very generous in size and very nice indeed. The beach was amazing and dog friendly, ours loved it. A beautiful place!

Gavin Thorne — Google review

Amazing views from the top and ideal for walks. A lot of wild cows on the way but harmless if you don't disturb them. The car park has enough spaces and is very well managed. The general route is well marked but there are different routes for walks as highlighted in the map. If you are just here for views then you don't need more than 1hr if you want to enjoy the beach and go for walks then you can spend many hours here. The parking is paid but you can pay by phone.

PG Maverick — Google review

Futuristic place with outstanding views! Keep eye on the tide, otherwise you can be kept by ocean 🌊. Perfect for swimming, surfing or just walk with your partner.

Сомова Ира — Google review

Nothing will prepare you for the breathtaking view that unfolds before your eyes as you make your way to the coves down the hill. Parking is easy and it’s a national trust car park (members get discount). The bluest sea and lovely sandy beaches with a cafe serving hot/cold drinks and food. The sea was quite rough when we were there but it didn’t stop us going in for a dip. We kept a close eye on the tide times which gave us ample time to enjoy our stay.

ian wright — Google review

Its national trust.Members park for free.Non members £10 for all day.Lots of spaces.Toilets available.Cafe availableIt's a steep drop down to the beach, with some unstable ground. Not suitable for buggies unless carried.Very beautiful with some stunning views.Lots of cliff walks available from here, and you can also walk to lizard Point from here. The tide makes a massive difference and when it's in there's not much beach at all , so do check the times online. When it's out its stunning and looks like something from a travel magazine. It's very much a casual beach, and most people are there to swim or sunbathe, as its small its not really for a walk about. It does get REALLY busy at peak hot times.Worth a visit though.Dogs allowed on the beach except for July and August.

Jamie Ward — Google review

A beautiful little cove with loads of space to go walking through the hills and see round all of the area! There are loads of different pathways to take all marked out by the national trust. The area is very steep and requires some decent footwear. You have to be mindful of the area and when you visit if you want to go to the beach as the tide could come in and cut you off at the bottom - it would be dangerous to swim through if the tide came in due to the rocks! This is definitely one that should be on your list of to dos in Cornwall!

Jayne Zahn — Google review

This place is AMAZING 🤩 ….One of the most beautiful picturesque cove / beaches I have ever seen. It is free to come in you just need to pay parking if you are not a National Trust member but it is all worth it! You can do a bit of trekking as they have two routes down the beach so it depends on what you prefer. The easy route or the more challenging one. The beach is absolutely gorgeous! The sand is white and really fine. The turquoise water is clean. They also have a small cafe where you can have a bit of drinks and snacks. A must see when you are around Helston, Cornwall.

The wide and long beach of Perranporth is perfect for a day out with friends, whether you take a walk or go surfing or paddle boarding. The sand is bright golden and the waves are usually gentle enough for novice boarders. The beach is also regularly patrolled by lifeguards so that children can enjoy playing in the water without fear of harm. In winter, the beach becomes one of Cornwall's most popular dog-walking spots as the sand is still warm enough to walk on.

We were here at low tide and I couldn't believe how the beach just went on forever. We walked past the rock formation and still had sandy beach. This place is naturally gorgeous and you could spend days exploring and not see everything. We enjoyed exploring the rock formation, the tidal pools, and splashing around in the river of water that cut through the beach. Totally worth the cost of parking for an afternoon out.

Joan M — Google review

Nice beach, was a full on sandstorm when we visited so it was akin to going through dermal abrasion therapy. Thank god for the beech pub (which was excellent!)

Etienne Paul — Google review

A massive sandy beach with small stream for children to play in, they will be entertained for hours.Toilets just off the beach is nice and the town has plenty of shops for anything you may require

Martin Whiteley-Sykes — Google review

Gorgeous beach - 2 miles to the end allowing for a beautiful walk to wear out the dog paws (and the human ones!)We visited early March and while there were several people at the start area, it was easy to avoid people with our nervous boy. As we walked it became more & more empty and we could wander as we pleased. We did have the tide come in on our return walk but that simply meant we had to walk over the dunes. Not the end of the world and it gave us a chance to have a different view of the beach before easily heading back down to the sand for the final steps back to the car park.

Hazel Hobday — Google review

Great beach has all the tourists shops around, parking for the day was cheap, great choice of local takeaways makes it hard to choose. Kids loved climbing to the top of the rock to see the flag and has some great rock pools to explore

Jason Reeves — Google review

Perranporth Beach is very busy during the holiday season and throughout the year as not only is it a huge expanse of beautiful sand and sea surrounded by cliffs and dunes, but it is a place where you can spend from morning till late evening lazing in the Sun, surfing, body boarding, taking a dip in the sea pool, playing any sport you feel you can on the beach, having barbecues or picnics, or safely exploring the mini rock caves. It is near a town with all the facilities you could dream of, and, just for the icing on the cake, it also has a bar/Restaurant on the beach! The beach gets very busy in the day, so the earlier you arrive the better. , However, stay later and you do get to witness one of the most beautiful sunset opportunities along the north coast.Check the Cornwall Council website for all the beaches that dogs are allowed on with dates and times. Please remember to make tons of happy memories, take everything home with you and leave only footprints 👣 🙌💙Have a great time 😊🙌

Nicola James — Google review

Absolutely amazing beach with loads of coves filled with caves and there is a massive rock pool in the big rock formation in middle of beach, awesome waves for surfing and body boarding. Clean beach with crystal clear water 👌

Dean P1975 — Google review

It had been a long and hot walk from Crantock, a few miles to the north, through the back of Polly Joke, across Cubeet Common, dropping into the back of Holywell. Finally we arrived at the northern and remote extreme of Perranporth Beach, descending to the sand by the site of sacred spot that marks the point where the patron saint of Cornwall, Pirran, landed.Nothing about this windswept and largely untouched end of the beach can prepare you for the village tucked into the cliff at the southern end, which is utterly overwhelmed by the many summer visitors who come to enjoy its charms. We stopped to slake our thirst at ‘The Watering Hole’ a pub built on the sand, then ventured into the Main Street to wait for the bus back. Such is the level of traffic throughout North Cornwall, that the bus was an hour late. The driver later told us that this was entirely normal. As we waited we enjoyed the busy street scene and basked in the sun, in front of us, cars tried to find parking spots in the oversubscribed municipal car park. An immaculately restored azure blue VW Camper came past, with an equally beautiful restored Mini Mal on top. It turned gingerly into the height restricted car park, just making it under the bar, that was until it came to the tail fin of the board, which ripped clean off, taking the end of the board with it.

Simon Cooper — Google review

Our favourite beach! The beach is sandy and kept very clean.Great place to some explore caves, rocks pools and or paddle in the clear sea. It's has wonderful bars, food places, shops and has a lot of great parking spaces.

Cara Underwood — Google review

Lovely well kept clean beach with all your local amenities close by

Shaun Edwards — Google review

Giant beach! There were loads of people on the beach but it couldn’t even fill up the entire beach. There’s food to eat and water. However I did find a lot, and by a lot I mean, A LOT, of dead jellyfish. I know they are dead because they washed up on the beach. I even touched one the size of my face for a while. They’re kind of slimy but also some sort of texture you cannot identify. We also saw a HUGE one washed up on the shore. It was the size of an adult tortoise or turtle. Quite interesting, honestly- we thought it was a turtle at first but when we got closer, it was clearer. There’s also some other sea life we could not identify- but don’t worry, they’re small and I don’t think they bite. But when you are in with the waves and sit down, there are tiny, tiny, TINY little creatures that bite/sting you a bit. I felt something on my foot and i saw one.

Mr Randomizer — Google review

5/5 would recommend to anyone and definitely revisit! The beach is so clean, the water is crystal clear and there are no salty, rotting sea smells! Not even a speck of decaying seaweed in sight! This beach has some of the softest sand that I have felt on my feet. The chapel rockpool is also very unique - have not seen anything like this before! There are also many rockpools at low tide (with tiny fish!). The rocks at low tide are covered with clusters of young mussels which is cool to see! Dog friendly so there are many happy dogs to spot but no signs of dog poo anywhere thankfully. Very easy to access as the car park is right next to the beach. There are lots of nearby restaurants and ice cream shops around if you need a bite to eat. There are also clean toilets next to the car park. My dad was very impressed by how clean and picturesque this beach was and couldn't believe we were still in England! Definitely a gem!

Vivian — Google review

Great beach for everyone including your dogTown centre is full of shops and eateries .... Cornish pasties were amazing .Highly recommended...Just make sure you get there early as when the sun shines the carparks fill up quick ... I payed £7 for 6hrs

Nick Hitchings — Google review

By far the best beaches I have been to! Dog friendly, horse friendly, rock pools, natural swimming pool, bars/food on the beach! Just a lovely place to be!

Laura Pugh — Google review

Perranporth Beach is a stunning coastal gem in Cornwall, UK. With its golden sands and impressive waves, it's a haven for surfers and beach lovers. The beach offers breathtaking views, especially from the cliffs nearby. However, it can get quite crowded during peak season. Overall, it's a must-visit for its natural beauty and water sports opportunities.

Of all the beaches this my fave, around a mile long with big caves & rock pools on the left & lovely sandy vast beach area inc Sand dunes. Great for kite flying. Coastal walks are great too with fab views. Cafe's, bars, ice cream parlour, fish & chips & restaurants. P.s a great bistro there is ' Bistro No4' also worth a visit 2023 Cornish buses are currently running at £2 capped anywhere.Plenty carparks, public toilets etc.Dave

Really helpful and friendly staff.Absolute brilliant morning with the family some of the family hadn’t done any kayaking before so there was lots of laughs and giggles. I would highly recommend to do this, even if you haven’t done it before you’ll love it and this is the right place to go kayaking. 😁

If you're looking for a unique way to experience the coastline, look no further than the coasteering course at Mullion Cove, guided by the phenomenal Chris! From climbing and jumping to swimming along the rugged coast, the adventure was nothing short of spectacular. Chris expertly tailored the activities to suit our group's skill level, everyone felt safe yet challenged. Highly recommend for anyone seeking adventure in a stunning natural setting! Don't miss out on this hidden gem of an experience!

Kayak Tour with Adam. It was a brilliant experience, Adam was very informative, we learnt all about the different types of jellyfish and was able to hold some of them. We would completely recommend this experience. Adam was an incredible guide

Lily-mae Borthwick — Google review

My friend and I went coastearing with Chris and we had an amazing time. He was great at explaining everything so we felt very safe despite the big waves. He adapted to the tricky weather by asking us to change the time of the session and choosing a more guarded bit of coast. We also got to see several seals swimming very close to us and it made us very happy.

Sora G — Google review

Absolutely incredible morning coasteering with Matt from Lizard Adventure. Such an exciting adventure scrambling over rocks, swimming between rocks and some BIG jumps. Matt was very safety conscious and I felt very safe with my 10 and 13 year old. Thank you for just the best holiday experience!

philippa hardy — Google review

Fantastic experience! It was a bit hard to find at first but once Mat found us it was a breeze. Very welcoming guy, knew everything you needed to know and even got us trying some funky seaweed. He took is in between all the rocks and into coves - would highly recommend and would return.

We had a kayak trip from Mullion Cove with our guide Adam. From start to finish our experience was seamless. Great communication over the phone. Wonderful guide Adam took us through the basics of kayak and safety routines. Once out of the harbour, magic begins straightaway. The surrounding nature is breathtaking and looks quite different from when you are on land. We saw loads of jellyfish, seals chased us; we went into a couple of small caves. Adam provided very interesting commentary on everything we saw from the flora and fauna of the seas to the history of the surrounding caves. Thank you very much for the fantastic trip we had today!

Maria Dymova — Google review

We’ve had the pleasure to go on a private kayaking tour with tour guide Adam this morning. It’s really nice to explore the shoreline from the sea, we saw some nice beaches and even some seals close up! Adam was great, really friendly and showed us some cool caves as well because we had some time! He told us some interesting things about the nature as well.It was amazing! 10/10 would recommend 😊

Booked a coasteering session yesterday - 3rd October - there were 3 of us on the session and we had a fantastic time. Chris our instructor was excellent, a really good balance between ensuring we were safe yet making the session exciting and fun.Would certainly recommend booking with these guys. This is the second time I’ve been coasteering with Lizard Adventure and will definitely book again when we’re next down here on holiday.

My son and I had a thoroughly enjoyable day on the water thanks to Adam and Elsa who gave fantastic guidance in addition to sharing their knowledge in respect of the history of Mullion and coastal foraging. Definitely recommend and already looking forward to our return trip so we can get out with them again.

We had a lovely time with Chris from Lizard Adventures! We booked a coasteering session, it was our first time doing this activity and we felt safe and well instructed during the whole session. It was just the right mix between a bit of adrenaline (jumps from cliffs and rocky water), nice views and curious seals watching us. Would definitely book an activity with them again!

Had an amazing time kayaking from Cadgwith this afternoon. Adam was a fab guide, full of information about about area and the wildlife. We all enjoyed exploring the different caves and little coves. Really would recommend Lizard Adventure to anyone visiting the area!

JP and Matt were brilliant throughout our Coasteering Guide Training Course and we’re very welcoming. It was a relaxing yet professional atmosphere with some amazing coasteering routes to practice in. We drove down from Shetland and it was well and truly worth it.Overview -We wake up at the crack of dawn ready to chow down on some Hogg Pudding. What is Hogg pudding? I don’t know. It’s good though. After meeting in a hall to go over some theory and for everyone to introduce themselves it becomes apparent.. there’s a weird connection between everyone on the course and The Shetland Isles. The age old saying from my home “no matter where you are du’ll always meet a Shetlander” pretty much stayed true. After lunch it was time to get wet and put some theory to practice. After getting the wetsuits on and walking down to our entry point I had already sweated out my MASSIVE “medium” Cornish Pasty. Beef! JP noticed a few of us wasn’t too acclimatised to the heat and wasted no time getting us in the sea.Rope work. That’s what we roped our selves in to. We practiced with our throw ropes for most of this session and it was beneficial. With plenty of swimming too.The next day was all water work. After a broken ankle, dislocated shoulder white wash beaching, spinal and a missing person (among other things), I’d say it was a resounding success. With every cough and throat clearance during the car journey back, We had left Lizard with a lump in our throat. Covid? Now I’m no virologist but We had swallowed way to much salt water for that to be possible. We were just sad from saying goodbye to an amazing place and amazing people.Until next time…

Absolutely brilliant time coasteering with kids 8 and 12 led by guide Sid on the Lizard. Guide was friendly, fun, knowledgeable and full of great nature anecdotes. He should be on telly. Scenery was fantastic and jumping off rocks was fantastic.

Lizard Lighthouse, located on the headland of Lizard Point, boasts a striking twin-tower structure that has been guiding seafarers since 1751. The lighthouse complex offers a unique visitor experience, with well-appointed cottages available for stays and a visitor center featuring interactive displays. Visitors can join tours to witness the operational side of the lighthouse and enjoy breathtaking views from the top. The site also houses a gift shop offering beautiful local souvenirs.

Great tourguide, beautiful engineering and stunning views.

Ali Javed — Google review

The old, historic lighthouse at Lizard Point in Cornwall began operating in 1752 and marks the southernmost point of the continental part of Great Britain. In 1998, the lighthouse was automated but still retains many historical features. The Lizard Lighthouse is the second oldest operational lighthouse in the UK. The building is listed as a Grade II historic monument.Unfortunately, we couldn't peek inside as it's only open on specific days, but it's worth visiting because the exterior is also incredibly interesting. Along the path from Lizard Point to the Lizard Lighthouse, there are spectacular views.

MIRELA GM — Google review

Such a shame the lighthouse is closed at the moment but still a beautiful spot to visit and photograph this wild part of the coast. Take change for the car park, signal for Pay by Phone is patchy. You can walk along the coastal path although steep and not accessible for pushchairs/wheelchairs.

Faye Ashton-Wright — Google review

Absolutely loved it. Our tour guide was fabulous and she had a great sense of humour and knowledgeStunning lighthouse

Karen Powell — Google review

The most southernly point in England or at least the southernly lighthouse if we're going to split hairs. One of the best coastlines to walk around if you go from Kynance cove to Church cove. so many sights to see and this is the tip. a beautiful morning gave way to us on this day. Lands end usually gets all the plaudits, but lizard point is so beautiful, rugged and battered coastline. In a strange turn of fate, I became a milkman in this area for a few years, lovely in the summer, bleak and hard going in the winter. But all the same, to wander around here everyday I have nothing but good memories

M B — Google review

A really fascinating place to visit. The visitor centre is great and has lots of interactive displays. The tour guide was amazing. So friendly, funny and informative and obviously has a great passion for the place. The tour up is not too many steps but the last flight is very steep but still manageable. It was so interesting to get right up close to the light. And amazing views. An unexpected highlight of our day.

Nicola Rowe — Google review

Lovely visit to the lizard lighthouse and museum. Lorraine the tour guide was great. She has a great personality, with great respect, and very informative about the history and the people who lived and worked at the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself is fascinating. Great views from the top. Be warned the last set of stairs to the light are steep

kevin bawden — Google review

Absolutely perfect time at this wonderful location!..highly recommend this for an interesting and informative visit. Firstly a tour of the museum and then a guided tour up the lighthouse itself via the fog horns and properties attached to the lighthouse. Extremely informative guide and stunning views from the top of the lighthouse.Disability access not possible in the lighthouse itself (depending on disability of course) as access to the top is via narrow stairs and the last part is a ladder…small gift shop no cafe however hot drink machine inside gift shop. No toilets at the lighthouse they are located in the National Trust car park which is the only available parking for this attraction….maybe 10 minutes at the most on foot to the lighthouse from car park. Suitable footwear required for obvious reasons

Her Indoors — Google review

Beautiful place. Friendly staff. Interesting inside to see the workings and importance of the lighthouse and its history. Great gift shop with some beautiful local gifts to buy. Stunning views.

Maria M — Google review

Well. Where to start... we stayed in the Lizard lighthouse cottages. Amazing. Well appointed clean and highly recommended. There are multiple let’s, we had the “disused” tower, brilliant up there in a storm! The visitors centre was excellent and we were lucky to get on the tour of the working side of the lighthouse. The views were amazing and good local pubs and people. Also lucky to see the Lifeboat training with the local Coastguard Helicopter.Be warned though. This is an operational lighthouse, that’s been keeping mariners safe for many years. It has a fog horn. It goes off when required. I loved it but the wife was less enthused. Ear plugs are provided!

Sights & Landmarks

Healey's Cornish Cyder Farm is a renowned producer of delicious Cornish Cyder and other quality beverages. The family-owned farm, situated in the scenic countryside near Truro, offers guided tours that showcase their press house, jam factory, and distillery where visitors can witness the cider-making process. Guests can also pet farm animals and take a tractor ride through the orchards. A visit to the restaurant guarantees an amazing culinary experience with great food and drinks.

Great day out fairly priced, a lot to see and do. The restaurant has amazing food and drinks and the staff were great. Dog friendly on leads. Got some great things from the shop as well including cider, gin, sauces and jams.

Sarah Jones — Google review

Absolutely amazing! We thought it was all very informative, loved the map you get at the beginning, much easier to follow. Better to book online as you get an online discount. The best part was the cider/wine tasting! There was also jam tasting. So worth the visit. Great food, things to do for everyone. Would recommend

Katie — Google review

Great day out, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Its worthwhile going online and booking in advance as this gets you discounted tickets for the various packages on offer. Really well laid out and the story telling of how cider is made is very well done. Going in the week meant you could see the production in full flow and the tasting experience was fabulous.

Pete Wood — Google review

Lovely Cyder farm. Very informative about all the different ciders, wines and spirits during the tasting. Unlimited tastings too! Loads of animals to see, and also very interesting history section. The bottling factory was really interesting to walk around and watch the process. Dog friendly in the majority too. Cafe was very nice offering gluten free scones.

Rosie Turtle — Google review

Fantastic place. Lovely day out. Had a loaded chips with honey and cider glazed ham in the cafe and it was delicious. You get a cider tasting at the end and we really enjoyed it. Friendly staff and dog friendly.

Bifan Popp — Google review

We had a great time Healey's, even though it was raining. We found this place in a Best Day Out at Cornwall visitor /tourist guide and even found a 10% coupon in that book. That made this activity a really good deal! The tractor ride through the orchards is pretty interesting, and a great kids activity. The museum is incredible, having cider making equipment from the 16 and 1700s. The animal farm is cute for kids as well. We really enjoyed the cider master tour and the cider tasting room with over 60 samples available is definitely a fun and interesting place... We spent the majority of day here, needing to eat lunch after the tasting 🙂...

Rebecca Martz — Google review

Highly recommend. Cheaper to book tickets online so would be a good idea. Very well thought out and put together, with brilliant staff. Very customer focused and also looking to improve and add new features!!

Morgan Butcher — Google review

It's difficult to fault Healey's, whether you're a hardened cyder drinker, are travelling with kids, both, or neither! There really is something for everyone, the adults liked the tastings, cars, and look at the museum. My children enjoyed the farm & tractor and my son loved the bottling area with its cool robotic arms! A great day out.

Ollie Cook — Google review

If you've never visited, JUST GO! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!Such a great place to go, family - and dog - friendly, really informative and interesting and something for everyone. The animals are great and it's so fascinating to actually watch the real life production process. And free return, just brilliant. Love this place!

Ian Garfield — Google review

First time visiting and I have to say I was not disappointed in the slightest, there is plenty to do there. Entry prices are reasonable, and the museum is very informative. The tasting bar was fantastic. Fiona and Rich really made you feel welcome and were very knowledgeable with the products on offer. It was a great day out all round.

Aaron Bates — Google review

Being Healey's ourselves (no relations i think🤔😂) this was a must for us, we were not disappointed.Very informative about the process and history, friendly staff and the kids liked seeing the animals.Tried different flavours of ciders and gins that we would never of bought in shops but purchased after tasting here.

Aaron Healey — Google review

Visit here 1 or 2 times a year when I’m down in Cornwall always a must visit on the list. Been upgraded since my last time here in august few new places you can walk around which was really interesting. Spot of lunch in the cafe area which was very nice & great for tasting some of there sauces they put on the meals! Always try the samples this time tried some new limited edition ciders which absolutely loved & brought 3 bottles of!

Bradderz — Google review

Great place, very informative, we paid for the all inclusive tour, was really good got shown around a lot of the factory and explained what was going on, the tour included a tasting in the cellar, a tractor ride around the orchards.Food was really good there's also a bit where you can taste test lots of the ciders, gins, wines and another part where you can taste test the jams, chutneys and sauces a great way to try before you buy

katie noel — Google review

In total a nice idea of a cider factory exeperience and worth a visit, but there are things to improve: it took a while to get in even with pre booked online tickets, the jam factory is actually a shop and nothing seems to be produced there, the motor museum has only 4 cars on Display. If you take the entrance fee in consideration, you get to less for the expectations.

Alexander Kropp — Google review

Excellent, lovely day. Loads of cider to try. Tour was very informative, tractor road was great fun. Brilliant visit. Definitely recommend and return

Debbie Maslen — Google review

Cracking place to visit. Really well run and absolutely spotless. We had our Labrador with us so wasn’t sure how much we’d be able to see. But we had a lovely walk around the farm. The cafe is in a lovely space and also allows dogs in, which is a bonus. Very welcoming staff.

Stephanie Landeryou — Google review

We had a lovely day at Healeys. The factory tour was great, the cafe/restaurant served some lovely food - suitable for all ages, and we spent far too much at the shop. Jam, Cyder, Gin, and souvenirs. Also… the tractor train ride was enjoyed by all.If you’re in the area, absolutely worth a visit.

Adam Poole — Google review

We had an amazing 4 hours here today with our kids (8 and 4 years). The restaurant food and drink was delicious, and well-priced for the quality/what you receive. There was so much to see and do, and the tractor ride through the orchards was really fun. The animals were great and was lovely to see the hens and peaco*cks roaming around freely. All the facilities were clean and modern and there was plenty of parking. Lovely staff. The kids were amazed by the factory and loved learning how cider is made. The afternoon tea was so good (and huge!) all in all we left very satisfied and wish we lived closer so we could visit more regularly. Great day out for the family!

Rachel Elizabeth — Google review

Brilliant day out with the family even with the 1yo he got to look at at the farm animals. Food and drink was great and serving staff was very helpful and friendly.

BIGROBRACING Robinson — Google review

I've been to Healey's before in 2012, and so much has changed since then. It was really interesting to see how much bigger they've become and the upgrades they've made to the site. There's multiple new areas and buildings and a brilliant walkway above the production lines that allows visitors to see the work that goes into everything. It's really interesting to see. This walkway eventually leads above the main entrance and shop.Everything is within a short walk from each other and each and every part of the site is fascinating to see, from the old to the new.I booked onto the Tractor tour, which was really cool. You take a ride around the site and see the orchards etc. and there's lots of interesting information provided throughout.

Grant Friday — Google review

Lovely day trip to the distillery, lots of things to see and do, very friendly and welcoming staff, if you like Rattler then it's definitely worth the visit. Tasting experience was great with all range of Rattlers, Gin, Wine, mulled cider, jams etc, was marvellous. There's also a restaurant, shop, farm animals, lots of outdoor sitting (surrounded by peaco*cks ☺️). Only thing that I'd suggest to improve is to make it pushchair/ wheelchair friendly by the museum and restaurant area, to put some pavement on the side as having to push the pram on the cobblestone was very hard and nearly broke the pram wheels. Otherwise, great experience, and we'll definitely come back when holidaying in the area. Keep up the great work!

Sorina M — Google review

We have been there few months ago, and quite enjoyed it. Free car parking is available. Big shop with different types of cider, snack and souvenirs. You can order tours through farm or walk around for your own. You can find a restaurant to eat or take your food away and go at the tables between the trees. For kids there few playgrounds and also small zoo.

Сомова Ира — Google review

The Fistral Beach in Newquay is the perfect place to enjoy a day by the sea. With big waves and plenty of rips for experienced surfers, it's great for all levels of surfers, while also providing beautiful scenery that can be enjoyed by walkers.

If I could give fistral beach more than 5 stars I would, its absolutely beautiful, it has a beautiful sunset and great watching the surfing, very relaxing beach, there is a carpark very close by and places to get a snack, also Rick stein's restaurant is there overlooking the beach

marione Dunford — Google review

Super dog friendly beach with a big swath of sandy shore. Somewhat away from the main streets of Newquay, making it a good place to check out if you're in the area. My personal favorite is how shallow the beach is, making the beach reach back a good 100 meters at low tide. Good views of the rocky shore and Headland hotel nearby.

Bryce Schaefer — Google review

Fantastic Beach, we love it here, dog friendly too so that's always a bonus. Lots of lovely coastal walks also, cant wait to go back.

Marie Holdaway — Google review

Amazing beach for surfing. Lifeguards work very hard to make sure everyone is safe. Sone nice little shops nearby and a kiosk where you can get drinks and snacks. Beach was clean and pleasant.

Louise Jones — Google review

Lovely beach and nice places to have a drink or food, from there is a very nice coast path walk as well, so something for everyone.

Susan Hayward (Corner Creations) — Google review

This is the best beach I've ever been to in the UK, never thought I'd ever spend a whole day at the beach, I was wrong! We had best week for the weather. We found parking on the Fistral Beach car park which is like a 5 min walk to the beach, so many things to for all, Surfers paradise just a day before the boardmasters festival so missed the major crowds and fees. Nice sandy beach with plenty of space for all, sunset to die for a well according to my daughter. We'll definitely come back here again.

Yusuf Esmail — Google review

Amazing beach, do be careful of the rip tides and current when swimming, I recommend going in land if you are not a confident swimmer. There are rocks on the south side so avoid. But otherwise stunning

Hannah — Google review

Really beautiful beach, sandy beach and really great for dogs. The dogs are welcome all year round. The hold surf competitions as the waves are huge. You can get. Great Cornish pasty! We went in October out of season but it was still super busy so get there early.

Absolutely beautiful place, great to see youngsters and older people alike enjoying the beautiful beach. Some great views and pristine beach.Highly recommend for a lovely day with the family:

Conner Regan — Google review

An amazing beach with a range of places to eat and drink. Careful with the car park on the main road they will screw you at any chance!!

Josh Greenslade — Google review

Beautiful lifeguarded beach with reasonably priced parking that overlooks the ocean, and all the facilities you could ever need.We got here early morning about 7am as the place was coming alive. Dog walkers, people exercising on the sands and in the surf, and the lucky souls who work here getting ready for a busy day. The sand is immaculate and there was a group of people ensuring that the entire beach was clean, picking up any litter that remained from the previous day, everyone seemed to be bare footed which is a reassuring sign. For those who want to try surfing or body boarding the surf school has everything you need, all the equipment is available to hire. There is a team of dedicated instructors that provide private tuition or you can go along in groups of up to eight, from a beginner to people looking to hone their skills they have it covered. The public toilets are immaculate as are the showers and changing facilities. There is a reasonably priced cafe/restaurant with a great menu, this again overlooks the beach and ocean.

D Crompton — Google review

Brilliant beach for surfing and bodyboarding. Clear water and perfect sand. Nice atmosphere with decent facilities for food and showers following the fun on the beach.

Kenny Roweth-Body — Google review

This is the small beach where you can do sea sports, you can get restaurants affordable with toilets. Good sandy beaches

Great weather in November. Perfect for surfing if you like it. Massive winds, big waves and not so cold. We were able to walk along the coast with a pushchair which made it even better.

Fantastic beach! My Son spent days surfing. He wouldn't leave if he didn't have to! Spacious, with great access to the swimming accessories shops, food shops/restaurants, and toilets

Fantastic big dog friendly beach, there's a lot of small jellyfish on the beach when I was there in July but didn't seem to be an issue, surf lessons are available as well as lots of food and drink shops, lovely golden sand, fantastic place for surfing and boogie boards with lots of people in the sea all the time.

Trebah Garden, situated on the Helford River's south coast, is a 26-acre sub-tropical paradise with a variety of exotic flora that offers an excellent destination for all ages. The garden features seasonal blooms, subtropical trees and walkways leading to its secluded beach. Trebah Garden boasts century-old camellias and rhododendrons that bloom in spring while giant gunneras delight visitors during summer.

Stunning gardens! I had the best afternoon meandering through these exquisite grounds. A myriad of paths that wind through the valley, leading down to a peaceful cove with many hidden ponds and nooks along the way. Lots of benches if you want to sit and enjoy the surroundings. If the gardens are that stunning in winter I really I can't wait to visit in the spring!

India Crawford-Scott — Google review

Visited today with friends for the first time & what a lovely place this is for a few hours stroll amongst truly Jurassic, gigantic flora ! A lovely pebble beach at the bottom with a small cafe. We had a mid afternoon late lunch at the main restaurant after our walk which was very nice. Lovely indoor and outdoor seating. Staff were very friendly. It’s a very dog friendly location. Good spacious car park. Easy route round, good underfoot.

Ian, Jac, Wispa & Hugo — Google review

Had a lovely day out today at Trebah Gardens, the vibe was so peaceful and chilled. Staff very friendly and approachable. We spent around 3hrs here, lots to see and they provide a map for you to follow at your own pace. I’d advise sensible footwear. There were so many beautiful and unusual plants and flowers etc. There were plenty of areas for people to have their picnics. The cafe is on the pricier side, however the food and drink was lovely. I also enjoyed the garden centre shop, I brought myself a house plant:) Overall we had a lovely day out, and if we were local we’d come again.

Jasmin Wills — Google review

This is a well maintained, beautifully planned garden that resembles a tropical, exotic garden. The private beach at the corner of this garden is a value addition and a must see place. To cover the entire garden it may take upto about 3 hours. Parking is free. Always take extra care when driving anywhere in Cornwall as roads can be very narrow and steep. Also allow plenty of time due to traffic conditions. Ticket is £15 per person. Closes at 5.00pm. Last entry at 4.00pm.

Mahesh Bandara — Google review

Absolutely gorgeous place. The gardens are stunning and plenty to look at even though we went in January. The beach has an amazing WWII history. We even saw a seal out in the sea :) It was so lovely and peaceful. You can tell the team work hard to keep it so gorgeous. We will definitely be back

Louise Walton — Google review

On of my favourite places I've visited. Even in the Autumn and Winter there is still a large variety of different plants and colours and the gardens are just as vibrant. There is a lovely kids playground and the ice-cream there as delicious. The beach was beautiful and the dog had a lovely time too. My favourite things were the koi fish pond, the beach, the bamboo forest, the water garden and hydrangea valley. Highly recommended a visit and very good value for money :)

Stella Craft — Google review

Such an amazing tropical garden, the second time I have been here and it never ceases to amaze. So many different species of plants and the gardens are incredibly well maintained. There is a private beach at the bottom of the garden. Nice CAFE and gift shop also. Highly recommend coming here as part of a trip to Cornwall.

Roger fa*gg — Google review

Beautiful place for kids and adults. Had been to similar place in Isle of Wight that was even better but Trebah Garden is not bad either. Bit pricy for what it has to offer though.Spent few hours in the garden and beach, kids had fun at the zip line. Staff was friendly which is unusual for most of Cornwall.

Ahsan Jalil — Google review

A great place to visit. There are paths of differing difficulty - some flatter than others and some with more steps. There are lots of places to sit down along the way, most of which have excellent views. The height variation of the land means you get very good views down the valley to the river. There are some interesting buildings to see, including Alice's Hut and the amphitheatre (built by one of the gardeners). There are also various ponds and waterfalls. It's definitely worth spending a few hours here. The adult tickets are £15 each.

Adam Ross — Google review

Friendly welcome and so much to see. Camellias were still in full bloom and everything else starting to wake up, beach was quiet .. I know our attractions need visitors but it was wonderful to sit on the beach, in the amphitheater and at the koi pond in peace. Well worth a visit in and out of season. Great carrot cake too!!

Barbara Weymouth-Wilson — Google review

Lovely gardens, easy parking. Nice cafe for Sunday lunch. Maze was fun and access to the beach was good.Hilly but some gentler slopes for easier access.

Sharp Pam — Google review

It’s stunning. The garden is huge and a true paradise. The beach is lovely, Christal clear water - a bit too cold for us but the brave ones can go for a swim. Dogs are welcome. I would definitely recommend, you do not have to be a massive garden enthusiast to enjoy this.

Schokominza Goldspatz — Google review

Great walk around especially when weather is nice. It seems like it goes on in with different ways around. A lot of flowering trees and bamboo and feel of tropical paradise. As well private beach is nice bonus with Cornish ice cream. It’s pebble beach but really nice view! Gift shop have some really nice unique souvenirs!

Evita Grant — Google review

Stunning gardens and lovely beach. Could do with loo's at the beach area and food not just ice cream and bad coffee. Restaurant at top is great with nice food and friendly staff. Well worth a visit and often come here just for lunch at the restaurant.

chris walter — Google review

Lovely gardens, nice walk round, and lovely beach for the pup to have a swim. Nice food in the restaurant, attentive staff. They had scooters available for hire, but we had mum in a wheelchair. I wish we had been told the terrain was rough for the wheelchair ♿️ not impossible, but was hard work on the way back up.

Trisha McCrorie — Google review

Absolutely enchanting, even in early March, can’t wait to visit again when the Gunnera are developed. Such a lovely sheltered valley and the beach and boathouse cafe an added bonus. Lots of choice in the main cafe with plenty of seating, inside and outside, dog friendly too. The homemade marble cake was delicious as were the ice creams at the boathouse. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and a brilliant leaflet too.

Colin Smith — Google review

Arrived here around 1:30pm on a Sunday in late March. No problem parking and it's free. Short stroll into the main building where you buy your admission ticket £16 adult ticket and you can find the toilets, cafe and shop. My wife and I can recommend the cafe for the sandwiches, quite large and come with a bit of salad and some crisps. My wife had a cheddar cheese and chutney sandwich on Brown bread and I had the ham, tomato and Dijon mustard also on brown bread. The ham and the cheese was very flavoursome. The gardens at this time of year were in colour from Camellia and rhododendron. The large Gunnera plantation was an amazing sight at this stage in their growth. The beach/cove was pebbled and has history from WW2 with a cafe selling refreshments and ice-cream. We spent around 2 1/2 hrs here.

Darth Rum69 — Google review

Wonderful dog friendly walks in the gardens, on the beach. Children play areas. Disabled access. Great shops. Delicious food with vegan options.

Kim Cunningham (Caerfree) — Google review

Weather was lovely for a winter stroll down to the beach and back the other side. But I think we chose the week that had the very least going on..I understand all was moving into spring...but £15 each seemed a lot for not much to see.Nice lunch though. And the usual heart breaking sight of the beach.

Diana Cusack — Google review

I came here with my family for the festive brunch and walk. The food was delicious and the walk was absoloutely beautiful, it rained the entire time and we didn't care. The gardens were incredible and the beach is very cutely tucked away from the rest of the world.

Rachel Louise — Google review

Wonderful relaxing place, even when it's tipping down with 'cornish liquid sunshine'!!It's so laid back here, the staff are lovely, the restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating and their menu is quite extensive too, all in all a place we like to go to just to chill out, even if it was a case of 'rain stopped play' today!!

5 star experience on a private surf lesson for two! I'm recovering from surgery and felt like my medical needs were met in helping me return to surf after a long time off, while also helping my boyfriend get into surfing for first time. Great location & instructor!

BEST SURFING EXPERIENCE!We had a lovely morning surfing with Ollie, Charlie and the team.We were running slightly late due to a Google maps malfunction but they got us quickly into our wetsuits and we didn't miss much. Very helpful and friendly people.Perranporth has great waves and the team helped us stand up and catch a few!

Me and my buddy hired boards on Saturday and Sunday from Ticket to Ride for the weekend! Everything went smoothly, it was our second time hiring there BUT we hadn’t realised that they closed on Sundays out of season (it certainly didn’t ‘feel’ out of season! 20 degrees in October)We were pretty gutted until Charlie, the friendly fella behind the desk, hooked us up by lending us roof straps and giving us a secret location to stow the boards when we finished with them on Sunday! (Cheers mate! You saved our weekend!)Professional, affordable (given they are literally right there at watergate bay), the equipment was good to go and we had an amazing time!I might have my own board by the time I return, but I’ll definitely need lessons and they will be the first place I call!

We had a beginners surfing lesson with Ru and Malo and they were fantastic. The school kitted us out with good quality wet suits and boards before heading to the beach for the lesson. The instructions given during the lesson were clear and there was plenty of time to practice out in the waves. Ru and Malo were both fantastic, helpful and engaging. There were approximately 15 people in the lesson but I felt that help was always available when needed.

I had a lesson with Charlie today and I can't recommend him more. He was so good at spotting exactly where I was going wrong to help me make progress quickly. He made it such a fun few hours and I came away really excited to get back in the sea to have another go soon. The location was also great and super handy having changing rooms and a shower. Thanks Charlie!

Amazing experience! Absolutely loved the surf lesson I did with Ticket to Ride - the instructors were so informative and super patient with me, having never surfed before! Really enjoyable lesson and I even managed to stand up a couple of times! Loved it so much much, I even bought a jumper! Thank you Ticket to Ride, cant wait to come back!

Hannah Gentles — Google review

Great experience and service. My 2 kids had a private lesson during the May half-term. Their instructor was fantastic and coached them brilliantly for the full 2 hours. Highly recommend.

Amy W — Google review

Ru was brilliant with my daughter she’s an 11 Yr old never surfed and after one lesson she was surfing. Really gave her the confidence to achieve her goal! Thank you Ru

Louise Bullows — Google review

our children absolutely loved their lesson with Lucy at Ticket to Ride. They learnt so much in their lesson whilst having the best fun. great value as private lesson between 4, with lots of individual attention. whole team was friendly, supportive and professional. highly recommend

Mon G — Google review

Went in as 6 beginners and had a great 2 hour lesson with Charlie. Fun and incredibly helpful, with all of us standing and riding some of the waves in before the end of the lesson.Place had changing areas and a shower to rinse off. We were able to leave our bags and such in the club house while out on the beach.Overall a great session and a fantastic start to our day!

Lappa Valley Steam Railway is a popular tourist destination located near Newquay. Visitors can enjoy a trip on three different quarter-size railways that pass through the area's former mining sites and abundant wildlife. The vintage carriages take passengers on a nostalgic ride through the beautiful Cornish woodland, ending at the fun park where they can try activities such as crazy golf, canoeing, and nature walks along the trails.

Definitely worth a visit, my children and our self loved it there. Plenty to do when there and loads of room for kids to run free and enjoy the parks. I would recommend going on a dry day to get the maximum out of your visit. But if the weather does change they have just built the engine shed this has a very big children's indoor soft play suitable from young ages - 12+. We spent a full day there, food and drinks where all available in the park and shed. But there is nothing stopping you taking a pack lunch and eating it in the park. Trains where unlimited travl in the price. Would definitely visit again.

Dan Lloyd — Google review

We went here for the day during our holidays. Billed as the “secret world of play and trains” it certainly doesn’t disappoint on both. A mixture of steam and diesel trains take you from the car park to the adventure park where further short train rides take you to other various parts of the park. There is history to learn at the mines, a large soft play and dining area which also caters for party hire, car races, pedalo swans, trampolines, mini golf, paddling and walking areas as well as gift shops and cafes. The cost for a family is well worth the amount of time you spend here. In fact the only other thing to pay for is a go kart track which you can take or leave. The prices in the gift shops are actually extremely reasonable. We went during October and the weather was fairly typical for Cornwall in the autumn! There are plenty of areas to shelter but as you would expect most of the activities are out in the open so make sure you bring a mac to enjoy yourself as much as you can! There’s also many areas to eat packed lunches if you don’t wish to eat indoors. The staff and drivers were, on the whole, friendly and helpful and the kids had a great day. So did the adults to be fair!

Dan Robinson — Google review

Two lovely train rides. Great coffee and cake, good lunch, what's not to like, and the weather was good to us as well apart from the heavens opening just as we had gone inside to eat. Brilliant place for children but enough for us oldies to do as well.

Kathy Fairey — Google review

Loved this place! Highly recommend if you’re travelling with young children. We were an all adult group and still had fun! Well worth the month as activities onsite were all included in price. Food was reasonably priced and very nice! Staff were very friendly, approachable and accommodating for my elderly parents. Really recommend! You can tell the money from tickets directly goes back into the park! Multiple train rides too!

Lucy Helm — Google review

Went Tuesday 10th. Wow what a day beautiful sunshine and the place is just gorgeous. Feels really exclusive almost, going by train to the main place. And so much to do there. One guy Evan stood out for me he was so fun and dramatic but meant the kids loved it so much more, everyone working there was lovely though from the lady in the engine shop to the shop keeper. Thanks for a lovely day, will make sure I come back on holiday down here for sure and visit again.

Debbie Eardley — Google review

A great day out for younger kids and not just those who like trains. Indoor play is huge, crazy golf and pedalos included and a big play area. Food was very high quality ( but order early as the service can take time). Everything was clean and modern which is not always true at train places

Steven Godfrey — Google review

I would give Lappa Valley 6 stars if I could 🌟 an incredibly fun place with plenty to do.Free soft play, free unlimites train rides, free crazy golf, free Swan Boat rides and multiple playgrounds on site for various ages.It was the perfect day out with our toddlers. The price is well worth it considering the amount of activities which are all free.

Such a lovely nostalgic place to visit. We come back year after year ( sometimes a couple of times a year if we can!) The place has had a recent upgrade and it is really lovely to be able to use their facilities in the new building. Disabled access and separate toilet facilities each with automatic hand-wash, toilet flush and baby changing is a real treat and greatly appreciated. The soft play is brilliant! The ONLY downside when we visited ( and this didn't spoil our day in any way ) was that there were no bins in the cafe area anywhere which meant we couldn't clear our table for the next people to use after us. Possibly a set of trolleys to put your tray or empties on next to a bin would be very helpful and save staff some time and free up tables more quickly at busy times. We popped our rubbish in a bin outside when we left easily enough.I can't fault the place or its staff as far as friendly family run businesses go , it is lovely here. The kids always enjoy themselves there and that makes for happy parents.Keep it up you guys, we'll be back again soon to see Ruby xx

Bernadette Rowe — Google review

Lovely place to visit for families with kids up to about 12 probably after that might be a bit naff for them. Lots of little trains to ride, a soft play area with separate areas for younger and older kids which is a very good idea and a nature walk too of about 20 minutes each way - mostly level but not super ideal for prams. Decent food and drink in a couple of locations and lots of parking though it's down a very small road so something to be aware of if you're not used to Cornish roads.

Rob Childs — Google review

We went in the afternoon with no expectations. It was fantastic. You could easily take a picnic and spend all day here with the kids. The trains have loads of space for buggies, there's tons of activities in the park, the restaurant and soft play was a big hit, and there's loads of baby changing and toddler toilet facilities. Can't recommend enough.

Tim Parkes — Google review

Great day out even on a windy/rainy day (like we had!)Our 2 sons loved it, especially the 5 year old! Plenty to do and it was nice and quiet which was probably due to the weather.Everywhere was well maintained and you can see a lot of love goes into it from the people working there.Great food (and portions) too where the soft play was 👍P.s the driver on the sit on train was a legend!

Kev G — Google review

This was the perfect family day out!! Despite the changeable cornish weather, we all had a fabulous day at Lappa Valley on Sunday! The last time i visited was over 25 years ago, and id forgotten just how great this place is! The staff were fantastic, and even the adults had a great time! Rain or shine, there is something here for everyone! Check out the train times before your visit, and always arrive a bit early! The kids enjoyed soft play, outdoor play, train rides etc and the adults loved the Swan pedalo, mini golf, train rides...the list goes on! This is now going to be an annual visit when our family come to Cornwall each summer! We thought the food was a bit expensive when we ordered, but when it arrived, it was really tasty, with good portion sizes so we can't complain. Thankyou Team Lappa Valley!!

Leanne Rossin — Google review

To all the members of staff, thank you so much for a lovely day out. We think Lappa Valley is fantastic.I have mobility issues, and every year we have visited the staff are always so helpful to make my visit as easy as possible.Staff are very friendly, happy and funny, it's nice to see a park where staff enjoy their jobs.Lappa is reasonably priced for entry and it is nice to see a park that doesn't charge you for extra activities once you're there, unlike other parks that charge you extra for mini golf (great fun) or trampoline. We enjoyed a very delicious meal in the engine shed (wow, the burgers and pizzas are amazing) and very naughty ice cream in the play park.Thank you again Lappa Valley. Keep up the amazing work you all do and keep on smiling.

Brilliant day out, we had great weather which really showcased the beautiful sites to see.It has mini golf, musical trail, scoot cars, parks, little electric cars pedalos cafés soft play for little ones and most of all TRAINSSS!I'd say any child 7 or under will have a fab day... Our boy is 1.5years he had a blast

Aaron Thomas — Google review

We visited Lappa valley during the February half term. Having visited previous years we hadn’t been since the park had its most recent overhaul with the addition of new locomotives, carriages and best of all the Engine shed which houses a brand new soft play area and a cafe. We were genuinely very impressed with everything, we arrived early morning and had coffee and cake whilst the kids played in the soft play for an hour. We later returned for a delicious lunch and although it was very busy the food arrived in good time and was very tasty! There was a good variety of options for kids and adults, we opted for pizza and chips for the kids whilst the us adults had the chicken wrap and a hotdog. We noticed they did a cooked breakfast in the mornings so next time we’ll come hungry as it looked great!Overall the new facilities were top notch and I was particularly impressed with the toilets, perfect for families with little ones. They clearly put a lot of thought into that! The staff of course were lovely too and their enthusiasm was plain to see, especially those that were driving the trains!I couldn’t fault it but having said that all attractions were not open as they do not open fully until the summer so can’t comment on those but I have no doubt it would just make the day even better and longer! We were there 5 hours so you would easily spend an entire day there when everything is open. Credit where credit is due Keith and Sarah have obviously invested so much in making this a top class attraction and no doubt there is more to come. We would recommend a visit here without hesitation and are looking forward to returning ourselves in the summer time!Unfortunately I didn’t take many photos!

Amanda Dowling — Google review

Visited with my wife and daughter, what a lovely place. The train rides are great, drivers are enthusiastic and entertaining. The site is amazing with historic buildings, large play areas, indoor play, train rides, a swan lake, crazy golf and more. I would have stayed for longer if the time and weather had allowed. A great day all round and will pop back next time we are down this way.

Fantastic gem for a family (Dogs included) day out. Been coming here since I was a little one and now bringing the little people.Facilities are clean and well kept, staff are all friendly & helpful.Plenty to do outside along with a soft play area to shelter from the Cornish drizzle!Highly recommend

Lizzie Prout — Google review

This was our first time visiting Lappa valley & we can’t wait to come back again! We all absolutely loved it, even with the downpours of rain. I want to say a big thank you to all the staff you were all so helpful and friendly and really made our visit great. The food & coffees were really good in the engine house and it also had good facilities that were clean and tidy. The play areas were great and kept our little ones entertained for ages. All of our favourite part however was the wildlife train ride, it was great & the member of staff was so enthusiastic and made it lovely for the children.Thank you Lappa valley, we’re all looking forward to returning soon again!

We took out niece and nephew here on a Saturday. It's such a great place. You Park up and buy a ticket you then have a 10 min train ride to get you too the main area.Lots to do especially for young children. Its mainly outside.Although they have recently built a lovely building which has soft play and a great cafe.A couple of things were shut which was down to us visiting in Jan I suspect.A little disappointing.Overall I love this place and would recommend all ages.

Another wonderful day at Lappa Valley. We first came here 6 years ago with my eldest child and have been coming back every year, now with three boys. Everyone was entertained through out the day. Train rides , great playground , crazy golf, swans and soft play it’s a day packed full of fun. We went during the Easter holidays and possibly the only sunny dry day of the week so it was busy . We did have to wait a while to order food but once ordered it came very quickly and was soon eaten by all. Great coffee and cakes. If you want a quicker and quieter lunch the cafe nearer the playground tends to be quieter. What’s also lovely to see is money being put back into the trains and area keeping it looking fresh and always improving.

Danielle Evans — Google review

Where do I start, what a fantastic group of people that work here everyone so friendly and happy to help, today I was very lucky that they were doing cab rides in their diesels (at an extra cost but worth it) was made to feel incredibly welcome here and so incredibly dog friendly, we will definitely be returning here

corwin emery — Google review

Amazing loads of upgrades to the site! Kids loved it! The train is fun for all the family! Brilliant Food!

Tom Gould — Google review

Really great value for money, we had such a great time with a 3yo and 1yo - friendly staff around the whole site and can't find fault with any of our day :)

Specialty Museums

National Maritime Museum Cornwall is a museum located in Falmouth, Cornwall, England. It is dedicated to maritime history and contains exhibits on fishing, smuggling, rescue and shipbuilding. The museum also has a play zone for children and a lookout with views of the harbour.

We really enjoyed visiting the museum. The displays were interesting and well laid out. Lots of fascinating and historical information and artifacts. The tattoo exhibition and monsters of the deep were particularly interesting. Well worth a visit 😁

Janine Hartnett — Google review

An OK 'average' museum experience. Not sure the £15.50 entry fee was justified in all honesty. Some boats displayed with little history or what made them special enough to include. A tattoo exhibition which was informative. The "Ive seen a monster" also ok but a bit theatrical. At least you get free entry to visit again within 12 months.

David Rees — Google review

Great day out lots more to see than you might expect. Some great stories with some treasure on display. Sir Ben Ainsley boat on display in the main hall and plenty to keep the kids entertained. There is a cafe here with plenty of toilets and an accessible entrance and lift to access all floors for those with mobility issues. There is some seating dotted around the place too. Entrance is £18 for an adult - 10% Forces/NHS Discount on the door. Plenty of parking nearby. Main car park is around £5.50 for 2 hours. There is a smaller carpark nearby that is about £5.50 for 24 hours or £1 per hour (pay by Ringo app only)There are cafes/restaurants outside too and walking distance to town.

Phil — Google review

We love the Maritime Museum. Visited the Monsters of the Deep Exhibition and followed the fascinating trail of mythical monsters and how they came to be so popular. Fascinating collection of real monsters of the deep too.

Tracey Dockree — Google review

Very very interesting pace to visit. Plenty to do for kids like making your own pirate hat, a pirate show and lots of RNLI gear for them to play on from an ATV, life boat ans jet ski. Loads or exhibits for older skis and adults as well. Well worth a visit for a family day out or even a general interest visit. Only down side is parking which is £2.29 per hour.

Daniel Cooper — Google review

Always love visiting the maritime museum. Pirates is good but not the best we've seen here. Titanic exhibition was awesome.Good prices to get in and your ticket lasts all year as well

michael earl — Google review

Fabulous place, whether you like boats or not. Just a couple of the screens not working properly as you walk around, which was a tiny bit disappointing. However, being able to see what's swimming around is amazing; being able to see the boats and views from up the top is also fantastic. The exhibits in between are also excellent. The cafe serves really good coffee, and the apple pie is delicious. Basically a winner all round - from 9 to 74! We went back for a second day because the tickets are valid for a year...

Katie B — Google review

Last month on a short break in Falmouth we chose to visit the Museum during a dreary day and it was such a good idea. Very impressed with the structure of the building. The exhibits were displayed well - not too overcrowded, with very informative captions. The Lookout has amazing views of the harbour. The Tidal Zone feels rather strange. Not much to see through the windows but lots of information for children to look at. Finally the all important cafe. Clean and spacious with lovely views.

Margaret Lane — Google review

Lots to do and see for all the family. Great with or without kids.Loved the myths and monsters exhibits.Only disappointment was very limited food and drink offfer in cafe. Maybe that will change for main season.

Lynne Williams — Google review

Well laid out, full of interesting displays with good interpretation. Great cafe and shop, helpful and friendly guides. Parking is tricky on busy days so allow extra time.

Jo Bell — Google review

Fantastic little museum with a great amount of child interactive exhibits and historical pieces for the adults.Great views from top of the museum and a tidal window at the bottom that you can see the contents of Falmouth harbour. Will go back at high tide next time

Daniel Lawson — Google review

Wonderful museum right in the Heart of Falmouth. Great exhibits, the tattoo and pirate ones are particularly great !The little boat pool is awesome fun, with just a small donation box that takes contactless

Zoe Attenborough — Google review

Nice educational place. Went on a rainy day so every man and their dog was there. Still enjoyed it. They had a pirate area at my time of visit which was interesting. The bottom floor where you can see under the water is good to see a bit of marine life too

Dean Millerchip — Google review

Good family friendly museum in the heart of Falmouth.Lots to see and do inside with interactive tables encouraging guest to get involved. Definitely geared towards children. The Observatory floor look out point gives vista views of Falmouth Harbour and surrounding areas which are stunning.Would recommend.Included inside is a cafe, toilets and gift shop.Adult entry £16.50, felt a little pricey for what it was.

J K — Google review

Went to see the sea king helicopter that used to be there, but unfortunately it's gone now. Still enjoyed the trip and exhibits and chat with Micky,I think a volunteer member of staff. Good tattoo display and information was interesting and Viking cruise ship was moored in the harbour,a bonus . Views from the tower are great.

Kris R Henry — Google review

Fantastic venue for children and to learn about Falmouth and maritime cultural. Plenty to do and very popular. The remote control boats were good fun and the tidal harbour was great if you can catch high tide. Cafe was decent and the current pirate exhibition was fascinating

Paul Large — Google review

Great day out. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots to see here. Great views over the harbour. Would definitely visit again.

Ian Bugg — Google review

Who is the museum for?Above all, the museum tries to offer entertainment. If you want to be entertained with some amusing stories or have younger children with you, it might be worth a visit (if you are willing to pay the outrageously expensive entrance fee). Anyone looking for more in-depth education about British maritime history will probably be underwhelmed. The pirate exhibition in particular is hardly about imparting knowledge, but rather about romanticising history and low-level entertainment. How much does it cost? The unfortunately common practice in Cornwall that you can only buy annual tickets, but not day tickets, is also followed here. So even if you only come once, you have to pay £18. That's a ripoff when you consider that almost all of London's world-class museums are cheaper. So think carefully about whether a visit is worthwhile for you!

Robin Misterek — Google review

A great place for a bit of education, looks good for school trips too. Definitely worth a visit.

Des PULLAR — Google review

I went here as we were in the area and I've been to the London location a few times, and love it there. The two places are quite different, which I hadn't appreciated before going. The museum was interesting and they had a pirates exhibition on when I was there. This was worth seeing, noting it focused on their portrayal in the media rather than so much of the history. Overall there is much less here in terms of amount of exhibits as well as historic artefacts. But the London location sets a high bar in this regard. I also feel this one is geared more towards kids and casual interest in Maritime topics. It's also paid entry unlike London, but that's not unexpected. Overall it was interesting enough to go and see but it's unlikely I'd go back a second time

Castle

Sights & Landmarks

Pendennis Castle is a medieval artillery fort and tourist attraction in Falmouth, Cornwall, England. It is open to the public from April to October and features interactive exhibits for children. The castle also has stunning views out to sea, making it an ideal spot for viewing the sunset.

Had a great day at Pendennis castle yesterday. Very windy but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Can't believe we haven't been before. All the members of staff we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. You could tell they enjoyed their jobs and were proud to work there.Thanyou so much

Phil Dowle — Google review

Very large castle and grounds. Great to see how this artillery fort was constructed and would've been run/defended against invasion. We definitely could have spent quite a few more hours touring around as we did not get through everything in the time we had.

K Elf — Google review

An interesting piece of history and lots to see. There is good ample free parking nearby at the grounds car park, which is only a 5 minute stroll away from the main attraction. The cafe is nice, albeit very pricey. I would recommend going on one of the free tours of the inner garrison, James our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of interesting information

Ashley Gregory — Google review

A peaceful place with spectacular views in many directions. Very interesting displays with staff very happy to give explanations & history. Well kept, clean with whlchair access. Also walks outside. Cafe had some interesting cakes. Gift shop gave us free samples of "mead".

Al Hodgson — Google review

Great family day out. Although windy the views are spectacular. St Mawes castle can be seen opposite the castle. Very interesting and informative even without the guide book which we did purchase and was a good read once back at home. Staff were lovely and helpful and the grounds are beautifully kept. Restoration work being done in the main tower on visiting but didn’t detract from the visit. Amongst many visited castles this was one of the most enjoyable.

Vicki Watts — Google review

Hubby loves a good Castle and whilst this is actually a Keep he really enjoyed the history. Had a good walk around without your guide as there are plenty of boards informing you about the history. We arrived at 11am and it was relatively quiet and it was tournament day so plenty of things going on included in the entry price. We spoke with some of the people there renacting life in the medieval ages and was fascinated to hear about their hobby. Those involved in the tournaments (knights and their staff) are professional actors whom tour the UK. We also had an amazing opportunity to listen and see a live Bird of Prey exhibition which was fascinating to see and hear. We had a coffee from the outside stall and the staff there were so friendly which increased our enjoyment of the morning. Lots of families and children arriving around lunch time and the place was filling up. We enjoyed a couple of hours here and especially enjoyed talking to a hobbyist who had a wealth of farming tools and weapons on display and was extremely engaging and knowledgeable in his talk! Kids loved listening to him probably because he is a teacher in his other role! Great time had by all. Free parking .. tickets were £17.40 each.

Karen — Google review

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. So much to see and felt as though we were stepping back in time. Hadn't realised that all the buildings were Pendennis Castle. Excellent tour guide at Henry VIII's Tudor Fort with amazing panoramic views. Signed up to English Heritage to become members because we were so impressed.

Carol Greenwood — Google review

Easy to find in Falmouth. Large car park and a bit of a walk to the entrance. The castle itself is a glimpse into history. Lots of ground for picnics and a really nice tea room. Our dog enjoyed her visit too but distinct lack of bins.

Tracey Burns — Google review

Fantastic views, some steep stairs to climb but we'll worth it.Situated on quite a steep hill with some uneven ground, but not too hard to navigate. You can make your own way around or join one of the free tours.Everyone is very friendly, lovely cafe, well worth a visit.

Lynn Allen — Google review

What an amazing family day out. Recently joined English Heritage while on holiday in Cornwall so making the most before heading home . Came during Easter so had an Easter trail on for kids with prize of chocolate 🍫. Castle 🏰 has such an amazing history to its name over 500 years to its involvement in WW2. Such amazing views all the way round. Definitely need a return visit.

Clive Griffiths — Google review

Fantastic family day out. We took the free tour guide dressed as a Soldier he was brilliant and totally brought history to life. Well recommended. If your local to Cornwall buy the Cornwall Heritage pass as it's amazing value for money.

CornwallFamilyLife — Google review

Absolutely beautiful. If you take the tours, you will discover that this is actually a keep and not a castle. There were two tours when we visited, one of the keep and another of the guns installed as border defense for World War II. Both tours were outstanding! The tour guides absolutely stole the show. Great place for dogs, families with children.

Kaushik Krishnan — Google review

The car park is a good size and is a 5 minute walk to the entrance. The castle is interesting as you walk through entrance you walk in to the soldiers room from when the castle was first built and it's a world war 1 detention room. The main building upstairs there a room dedicated to George Butterworth who drew cartoons for newspapers and during the world war 2 and it was really fascinating to walk round. The walk round the ground it's a mixture of cannons and second world war air defence guns. The walk through the tunnels to half moon battery is different and the observation post is set up the way it was during second world war and the phone rings. It kept the kids entertained. The gun tower has the kitchen on lower level and ground level has 4 cannons and a toy cannon that you press a button and it makes the noise and flashes like a cannon. The top has stunning view across the estuary.

John Rundell — Google review

Fantastic visit. Beautifully kept grounds, stunning views and so much history. The gun tour was brilliant, the lady that delivered it did so fantastically with so much knowledge and enthusiasm. I learnt so much! The team in the cafe were friendly and the scones were delicious.I would definitely recommend a visit here.

Sarah Harper — Google review

An excellent few hours at Pendennis Castle today. We had sunny weather, which is definitely a bonus. This place is steeped in history and I found it fascinating. The tour led by the Corporal in uniform was fantastic. He really did a great job at explaining things. The cafe staff were lovely and the food/drinks that we had were really good. All round 5 stars.

Jo K — Google review

This is an impressive military garrison set high on the Falmouth headland. It's not a classic medieval castle but it does boast some impressive walls and intact fortifications. You can walk around the outside for free, which is worth the trouble, but you'll have to pay English Heritage to venture inside. It's worth it though to visit the central fort and admire the array of weaponry.Apart from the far ranging views, which are excellent, Pendennis Castle also offers a decent enough cafe and a shop for visitors. The staff are very welcoming and you can take your dog everywhere. Nice.

It was a very wet day so we didn't get a good look around unfortunately but what we did see was cool. We did make use of the cafe where the staff were lovely and the food was reasonably priced.

Amazing place, the most beautiful views and so much history from different time periods. We went during Halloween half term and were lucky enough to catch one of the story times. The story teller was genuinely brilliant and very knowledgeable - it was like a live episode of horrible histories! As members, we have been to a lot of English Heritage places and this one is up there with the best.Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed Pendennis Castle, it has quite a lot of hidden curiosities. It was £16.30 for adult entry to the site. We got there for opening on August Bank Holiday Sunday and there were a few folk about. We parked easily and when we were leaving the overflow was open but not full. We really enjoyed all the different eras of history that meet in the castle, and there were some fun interactive things to entertain, such as phone calls in the war bunker and costumes in the castle. I can imagine that on a sunny day, it is a great place to bring a picnic. The cafe is quite small and has a very small selection of goods, I have seen much better in other, smaller English Heritage properties. There are toilets and accessible entrances to some of the areas but not all. Accessible parking is inside the castle walls. There are some areas that I would have liked to see more information on such as the Half Moon Battery as you could see an entrance to the underground but couldn't go down there. We spent about 2.5 hours in the castle, including a cafe trip, but had the weather been better we may have stayed longer. Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit, especially if you have EH membership.

Great little castle on a great location. The views across the estuary are unmatched. When I was there, there was a medieval jousting tournament going on. Very well organised and quite exciting. There are both WW2 era things too see, and older ones. I did not have time to go see the WW2 barracks yet, so can't really say anything about that. The little castle was fun to explore. There was also the option to dress up in some medieval type clothes and take some nice period photos.

Sander Riel — Google review

A great and amazing experience. The grounds are immaculate and the news stunning. Staff were knowledgeable and pleasant Ashwell as helpfull. If you are in the area definitely worth a visit.

Desmond Boyle — Google review

We have been twice this year, once for a knights battle reenactment which was marvelous and definitely recommended and for a pirate themed day which was very interesting. Both events really brought history to life and made learning fun, I couldn't fault either day.The food is lovely, merchandise is affordable and the castle is clean and well maintained. We stayed for full days on both occasions but if there was not an event, my children would have wanted to leave after a couple of hours. Beautiful location.

Castle

Sights & Landmarks

St Mawes Castle, a 16th-century artillery fortress, is strategically placed to dominate the entrance to Falmouth Bay alongside Pendennis Castle. It is part of a network of coastal fortresses built by King Henry VIII amid tensions with France and the Holy Roman Empire. Its cloverleaf shape features circular towers and a central keep that can be explored both inside and out. The castle's original purpose was to house heavy artillery that would sink incoming ships.

I spent 10 days with my family in Saint Mawes and I must say it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The sea view was amazing and the beach was a sight to behold.Boat rides and walks up to Saint Mawes Castle which was like a real life Game of Thrones experience.Overall, it is a beautiful place to relax and have time for family and enjoy nature at its best artistic experience.

Good value, beautiful area and beaches around. Lovely gardens around castle. Only thing was that the two staff on entry did not offer any information just took payment.

Debra Wood — Google review

We are English Heritage members so usually cater our holidays around making the most off our membership, we had already visited Pendenis Castle so new we just had to also visit St Mawes, beautiful little castle with 7 floors all accessible via steps we had a good look around and really enjoyed it! I definitely recommend a visit nice well kept grounds to, the 2 guys in the shop also super nice and welcoming, short walk into the small town after had a really nice visit!

Kay — Google review

Lovely castle to visit, and bigger then it looks from the outside. Plenty to see and walk around, a nice view of across the sea from the top and from the outsides. Lovely coffee van outside selling snacks and drinks. Well worth a visit!

Caroline B — Google review

Used a ferry to access this castle to save time, be warned it gets busy but run every 20m. The castle I think is the prettier & less busier of the 2 there. It was a beautiful & very tranquil place. Could easily have taken a picnic & made a day of it.

cat p — Google review

Great little place. Actually much bigger than it looks from the outside. We were here a couple of hours. There is a little refreshments van outside but the shop also has a small selection of drinks. NOT wheelchair friendly.

Tracy Lees — Google review

Nice bit of history, from the turret you have some great views over to Falmouth nice grounds, probably not for anyone with a physical disability as the steps are extremely steep and narrow. A good place to visit, the parking is only £3 all day and you can then stroll down to St Mawes, to look at shops or eat, or get the ferries across to Falmouth.

Andy Boult — Google review

As you approach this castle from the road, it looks quite small and the entry fee can appear a bit steep. However, once you commit and cross the bridge, you realise that this is a gem. It stands from Henry VIII's time and it's well worth a visit.Venturing outside, the spectacular views price what a great location this castle holds. Exploring up and down the narrow spiral staircases reveals that there's a lot more to this place than meets the eye. It's as solid as you'd hope for a castle. It's got canon and narrow openings, big fireplaces and obscured "trenches".We visited on an overcast, very windy day in February. I expect that the temperature inside the basem*nt kitchen is the same in the height of summerIf you're in this region, will worth a visit, particularly if you've got here across the King Harry get ferry.

Andrew Mills — Google review

This castle is a great attraction to visit in the Rose Peninsula, and it's well worth going out of your way for.It is very beautiful and has fantastic views, and the gardens are extremely well kept. The nearest car park can be a bit tight on entry/exit, but it is more than doable in a bigger vehicle.

Mickey Laws — Google review

Located right on the peninsula of the River Fal, facing across to Falmouth. St Mawes Castle is small but so interesting, well maintained by English Heritage, well worth spending a couple of hours, so much to see.

Howard Kirrane — Google review

The castle is small but in great condition and visitors are allowed to roam freely and explore with few restrictions. The rooms aren't made up to demonstrate what would have happened in them so it takes a bit of imagination to picture how it would have been. Lots of cannons to climb on for the kids and beautiful views. The gardens are small but pretty and have picnic tables to enjoy lunch with the stunning views.

Rosie Godfrey — Google review

A lot more to see than initially thought. Very good value! Four floors to explore in the main structure, and more ruins to see in the grounds

Karen Warren — Google review

Great place to visit, warm welcome by lovely staff, family friendly place, clean toilets, nice shop, good parking around .... Worth to go

e h g — Google review

Lovely gem hidden away. Didn't know this place existed but certainly worth the trip. Met by friendly English heritage staff who explained what there was to see and do in the castle.Lots of different levels and rooms to walk around in the castle and then if you wanted to you can walk around and explore the grounds. Definitely worth taking the time and doing the grounds. There were toilets on site. Some very steep staircases made parts of the castle hard to access but it did have hand rails which made it easier for some members of our group.

Natalie Shaw — Google review

Nice little castle (more of a Henry VIII fort really) well worth a look if you're in the area.

simon waterer — Google review

Worth a visit. Take time to read the information boards to get a sense of the history of the castle. On a nice day, enjoy the battery areas with an ice cream and watch the ships coming out of Falmouth.

Tim Green — Google review

We caught the ferry, which was an invigorating experience, then followed the crowd on foot to the castle. It felt like someone was still living in it! No ruins, just a working castle. Information notices informed us throughout our visit. Welcoming and informed staff.

Julie Kempen — Google review

We boarded ferry at Falmouth to St Mawes, dogs allowed, we then walked up St Mawes Castle, £11 per adult to enter, wonderful views and scenic gardens, toilet facilities, lots of swirling stairs to top but we managed with dog aswell. Stopped off for a coffee just outside of Castle and then sat on pretty bay just at the bottom of Castle. We then headed back to harbour area, where their are small shops, food and drinks outlets, and lots of crabbing areas for children and bays to relax and swim/paddle board .We got on small ferry to Place, which comes every 30 minutes, crew very chatty and friendly and then walked along coastline to St Anthony's lighthouse, this is about a 45 minute walk, quite hilly but worth it for the amazing views, small sandy bay and to see lighthouse. You can buy a adult combined return ferry ticket for £20 ,definitely worth it for a fantastic day out !

Sue Gidney — Google review

Great little castle to visit. Its not huge so will not take you longer than an hour to go around. The place is well managed and you are pretty much free to go and explore just about anywhere on the grounds. If the weather holds you will some great views of Falmouth and St.Mawes.

Padstow Harbour is a charming coastal destination that offers a delightful blend of maritime history, culinary delights, and scenic beauty. The harbor is bustling with both working fishing boats and pleasure craft, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the cobbled streets, admiring the colorful boats and soaking in the timeless charm of the area.

Padstow is a lovely place to go at any time of year. I went in December when it was a lot quieter bit still plenty going on. There is plenty of parking in the town & also more on the outskirts which is a fair bit cheaper. Not all of the shops were open but still some nice ones if you want a good look around. Plenty of good pubs & restaurants if you want something to eat, probably no need to book at this time of year. I went for a walk along the coast path to the beach & had it virtually to myself, the scenery around the area is fantastic. I would highly recommend a visit to Padstow at any time of year.

Scott Roberts — Google review

Loved it! Staff in shops are friendly and helpful. Great place for shopping if that's your thing. Beautiful harbour. RNLI volunteers were kind. It is steep and the streets are narrow so be prepared to walk and be mindful of the traffic. Highly recommend a visit.

Lovely little town with a lot of character. Well worth the visit. Everything seems to be owned in one way or another by Rick Stein, I guess no one wants to tell him that enough is enough

Lovely visit to Padstow. Full of nooks and alleys filled with independent shops and businesses. Lovely place to visit with the famous Rock Stein Fish & Chips shop and deli. Really beautiful small harbour with lots to see and explore.

Ninja Wacker — Google review

Got the ferry over from Rock , which was easy and hassle free. At 10am Padstow was lovely and relatively quiet. By lunchtime it was heaving. Lovely shopping, but expensive. Very cute winding streeto explore if you want to avoid the crowds.

Tracy Bushell — Google review

As always Padstow never disappoints. The right number of shops & eating places coupled with a beautiful harbour view is always going to be extremely popular. That’s why we go mid afternoon when there is less people. The harbour car park we used had plenty of space & only a short walk into the town.

Andy Fall — Google review

Lovely pretty harbour side town. It gets very busy and if trying to park in the harbour area you need to get there before 10am or else don't bother and use the car park up the top and walk down and back up to the harbour 10/15min walk. It has been taken over by the Rick Stein franchise but just don't use their shops or eateries - there's plenty of others worthy of a visit. Lobster hatchery which the kids would find interesting. Boat trips bookable on the harbour side. Nice little day out.

Gemma Godwin — Google review

What a great little Harbour, we had a great day there .Lots of places to eat & drink.Plenty of benches to sit on in the nice weather. There are some good boat trips that sail from the harbour.Well worth a visit.

Kevin Morgan — Google review

A beautiful natural harbour that has been home to fishing fleets for decades. Now it has a strong tourist offering with multiple Rick Stein establishments. Parking is a pain and it is does get crowded in the summer months. Good ferry to Rock.

Charles Phillpot — Google review

Padstow Harbour is a lovely place to visit. It's clean and tidy, but the bins could do with emptying more frequently. Parking is problematic but that's only due to how popular the area is. Many shops, restaurants and pubs. I would highly recommend a visit!

Whilst in Cornwall you must call in to Padstow. A beautiful harbour with quaint shops, cafès and pubs. Views over to Rock. Go on the scenic walk to St George's Cove where you will find a stunning white sandy beach and fabulous views ⛵️⚓️☀️

Gemma Allen — Google review

Beautiful Cornish village, very picturesque. Plenty to do and see or just relax and soak up the atmosphere. Quaint shops and restaurants to browse and a visit to Rick Steins is worth it

Roy Davies — Google review

A classic Cornish harbour with a good range of hospitality, shops, and pubs to ensure a great day out. A nice ferry crosses over the estuary to Rock, giving lovely views out to the Doom bar and the Atlantic.

Philip Newcombe — Google review

One of the loveliest fishing ports in Cornwall with plenty of gift shops and more of the trendy fashion boutiques, lots of pubs and restaurants there's something for all. The harbour is great for watching the world go about it's business while having a bite to eat or ice cream but watch out for the seagulls! There are a few steps as many of Cornwall's places of interest are carved out of rocky hills and inclines! The beach is a short distance from the harbour and once negotiated along a gravelly dusty path way, leads down onto a lovely smooth sandy shore line.

stephen morton-holmes — Google review

Always a pleasure to visit, lots of independent shops, eateries and an idyllic harbour, some lovely walks with views out to sea and a foot ferry across to Rock and it's beautiful beach

Stopped off for a quick look about , happened to be the Christmas festival , which we were just a bit too late for . But the harbour was nice , music was playing . Some of the shops were still open. A nice little old fashioned harbour with some good shops around.

Jason Lee — Google review

Lots of places to eat and drink, and little shops to poke about in. Lovely bakery with lots of choices of pasty fillings ( we had a lamb & mint + steak & brei ) for lunch both very tasty. A ferry that takes you across to a beautiful beach and benches all around the harbour to sit and watch the world go by.

The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow is a marine conservation, research and education charity that focuses on the unique commercial species, the European Lobster. They offer tours of their nursery, educational activities and even provide opportunities to adopt a hatchling. The center serves as a center of excellence for lobster science where visitors can learn about the impact these marine animals have on our planet and how human activity affects them. Additionally, guests can discover fascinating facts about lobsters while enjoying their luxurious meals.

A must-see attraction if you’re passing through Padstow.I adopted some lobsters as a Christmas gift for my wife a couple of years ago so have wanted to visit for quite a while, and I must say that I was worried that it wasn’t going to be worth the journey. We weren’t disappointed.I didn’t realise the work that the hatchery does is making sure that lobsters can be farmed sustainably and the links they make with local fisherman to make sure that resources don’t expire, but also to give the lobsters a fighting chance at survival. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and your ticket is valid for a whole year.

I went with my family, my son loved it. I was worried that it wasn’t going to be worth the journey. We weren’t disappointed. I didn’t realise the work that the hatchery does is making sure that lobsters can be farmed sustainably and the links they make with local fisherman to make sure that resources don’t expire, but also to give the lobsters a fighting chance at survival. An interesting place to visit and teach children about sustainability. You can adopt a lobster from £5 or a whole family for £13 which you can name and track online. Good fun, they do some great work to increase lobster stocks and you can see newly hatched though ready for release and pregnant lobsters 🦞The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and your ticket is valid for a whole year.

Great little experience. Took our 2 year old. A good mix of activities and information for both adults and children. It's also dog friendly which was helpful for us.The lady on reception was super welcoming and friendly. She gave us a good rundown of what we can see and do in there. There was also a gentleman who offered to talk more about the lifespan, the capture and breeding of the lobsters and the work that the hatchery does. Really interesting.Tickets are valid for a whole year from purchase so if you're visiting regularly it's very well worth the money.

Katie Steeden — Google review

Our 3yo had a blast here and didn't want to leave. It's compact but has loads of information and we got to see plenty of lobsters and crabs including a 2 day old 'batch' of baby lobsters! Really worth an hour or two of your time.

Great place to visit whilst in Padstow especially if you are eating seafood. To be able to appreciate how they are making a difference for welfare and sustainability of seafood is a must in my opinion. Really enjoyed chatting to staff who were passionate and knowledgeable. Worth a visit and the ticket price (which I believe also allows to you return free within the year).

Jasmine Perry — Google review

It's possibly the best bacon and egg roll I've ever had! We sat on the terrace, and the view was amazing! Could have happily stayed till lunchtime!

Tracy Bushell — Google review

Great place to see how lobsters 🦞 are being helped in not being over fished in the Southwest area by giving younglings a good start in life and then re-released into the sea. Small but intresting area, where you can sponsor a lobster, a couple or a family of four, name them all and if you sponsor more then one they are released together. Helpful friendly staff and dogs are welcome. The downside is (nothing to do with the Hatchery) the car park, dreadful to get a parking space, so arrive very early to get one. So I wouldn't pre-book any tickets to the Hatchery online just in case you can't get parking, which happened to me during the school holidays . Going back again soon to take my friend as paying once gives you all year entry to the Hatchery. We'll done to everyone involved in The National Lobster Hatchery.

Terrie Clarissa — Google review

A cool place to visit with the kids. There are some live lobsters in the tanks for them to see and some interactive dislays to play with. It's quite small but it is well worth paying for as it helps the local industry in a big way. The little baby lobster in the tank were great too see.

Nicholas Cannock — Google review

Brilliantly designed attraction. Every bit of space is used to interest and educate. There are a lot of hands on bits: magnet fishing, flaps to open, colouring and puzzle sheets upstairs. It's really interesting to see lobsters of various ages. Very encouraging to see the work being done to support these fascinating creatures. We very much enjoyed the chocolate lobsters from the gift shop, too!

Kurt Morgan — Google review

Absolutely loved our visit here. Great to support such sustainability. Dog friendly and accessible.

Visited the hatchery on the 18th October 23 - it's an interesting place, I learnt alot ontop of what I already know as a 36 year old during my visit. I adopted a lobster (Doug), can't wait to see him released into the ocean.

Katie Perkins — Google review

Super informative and interesting! It's small, so it won't take much time, but everything that's written is food for thought and the merch is super cute 🦞If you have the chance to take part in a lobster release, do that. It's something you'll never forget.

Ettore Lignelli — Google review

Not a big place and you pay £7 for an annual ticket. There is no choice of a one-off payment. There is not much to see at all and you complete the tour in a couple of minutes due to the venue being so small.

Family Recipe Roots — Google review

I’ll start off with that it’s a lovely location. However as you can probably tell, I have given this location a 1 star rating. Why? Because the parking situation is bordering on criminal. The pay by phone method works IF you can get a phone signal, there were many who were trying and failed. However the shocking fact is that 3 months after visiting we have received a parking penalty notice from Alliance Parking, who hide behind a PO Box number and have no phone contact details. They only show evidence of us entering and leaving the car park, but no evidence of the parking ticket that was paid for with cash and placed on the dashboard. If they can provide evidence of no paid parking ticket on the dashboard then fair enough. But after 3 months we obviously don’t have the parking ticket as evidence as the car is cleaned out regularly.Reading other peoples experiences of this, it would appear that 3 months is standard practice for ALLIANCE PARKING to send out a penalty notice. Almost certainly because of the reason above.Their appeal system is designed to make it impossible to appeal and remain in the lower penalty charge bracket.I understand that parking fees need to be charged, however, to the owners of Daymer Bay, please get shot of Alliance Parking as they will eventually lose you business. That is my primary grip. My second is being charged to use a toilet that is quite honestly disgusting. I am aware that it is in that state because of patrons, but if you’re going to charge to use them, then at least clean them.Lovely location ruined by greed from the owners and Alliance Parking.

Polzeath Beach is long and wide, with a gentle slope that makes it perfect for swimming. It's also popular for walks in the winter, when the sand is covered by a thin layer of snow. The atmosphere at Polzeath is unique, thanks to its small seaside resort setting and beautiful surroundings. Beautiful beach! First time coming here and if you’re staying at the campsite it is a short walk (down the rocks) straight onto the beach. Good beach & surf. Can be very crowded in summer peak times. Recently has lost a lot of it's rough & ready charms through influx of property money. Avoid in the first week of public-school summer holidays as deeply unpleasant behaviours and attitudes often on display. Wonderful sunsets often.

The best beach in the world, safe, clean, family friendly. It is brilliant for surfing, swimming, stand up paddleboard users, sea kayaks, paddling. Walkers, sand castle builders, rock poolers, cricket on the beach, food and drink and just chilling watching the waves.

Beautiful beach , great for surfing or Bodyboarding ,plenty of amenities , dog friendly out of season but restrictions during peak season, very popular so can get very busy during holiday times.

This beach is so beautiful. It is surrounded with rocky walls. There are many restaurants and shops around it. Lots of parking space all sides. Some are free. Many options for snacks and street food. Very popular for surfing. I swam in the water in July. Was cold but still possible. I enjoyed it a lot.

Water & Amusem*nt Parks

Camel Creek Family Theme Park, located in Tredinnick, is a popular family attraction that offers a range of activities suitable for children of all ages. This adventure park boasts animal petting areas, thrilling rides including the Clown Coaster and Vertigo, as well as a 5D cinema experience. Additionally, visitors can enjoy dining at one of the available cafes or restaurants before visiting Pets Corner and Meerkat Magic to interact with animals.

We visited here with our young daughter and close family.I'd never been here before despite growing up in Cornwall so was quietly intrigued as to what it would be like - but I'd heard good things from everyone. I was not disappointed. 😃What an amazing theme park and only 15mins from home!So much to do and see! Great facilities, friendly staff, reasonable entry price and some brilliant rides! Our daughter absolutely love it! The animal enclosures are fab and the rides are varied and suited to all ages.We enjoyed our visit so much we opted for an annual pass for us all so we can return!Great fun and plenty for adults/parents to enjoy too.My only tip is take a picnic as food on site isn't all that cheap. A brilliant full day out so get there early!

Staff on entry rude!Staff in soft play great£10.95 for 2 pensioners each and argued about how tall our 2 year old grandson was. What was on offer was about an hour nothing much open.£21.90 was the most expensive bench I had ever sat on!

We visited this place on Friday 12.04.2024 and loved this place. We enjoyed every moment we spent at this park apart from the fresh donuts a young lady was making..lol, also 5D cinema isn't a true 5D so didn't like it.This park has many rides and worth every penny.

We had a great morning here. We used a discount code which felt like good value for money. It would have been quite expensive if not. Look for codes if you can. Our children loved the rides. Lots to do for small children. We all enjoyed the river raft. The horses and ponies were lovely to see. You can even stroke them. They seemed really well cared for.

Lots and lots of activities and rides for the kids. The log flume was appreciated by kids and adults alike during the 30° weather!Queues were very short, even though it was the school holidays. You can easily spend a whole day here and keep everyone happy and entertained all day long. The food was pretty rubbish, but that’s unfortunately expected at a theme park.

Amazing family theme park. Well maintained, friendly staff. Take a change of clothes or swimming gear if you're going on the water rides 🤣😂Can't wait to go back again, highly recommend

We have triplet 8 year olds and we come back to Camel Creek each year while on holiday. They all love it. Ride waiting times are good, staff are all friendly and the selection of rides is good. The new play areas are looking good also.

Enjoyed a lovely day here. Our 12 year old grandson is at the upper age limit for this park - I saw only a couple people older them him. Nevertheless, he immersed himself and went on just about everything. When we arrived at 10:30 am we thought we might only last a couple of hours, but actually we're stayed until about 5 pm!Lunch was pretty typical of theme parks. The main restaurant was very busy so we used a smaller one with fewer tables and more covid safe.Unfortunately, the Thunder Falls ride is currently shut. It looks very new, so maybe it hasn't yet opened. There is a very helpful "ride status" on the website so you can check rides, if this is important to you.Did the 5D experience twice during the day. This was probably the longest wait time. The nationwide staff shortage is affecting the park a bit, for example not all the ice cream outlets were open. But we find all the staff to be helpful and friendly.Overall, a very enjoyable day.If you find this review helpful, please 'like'' it, to help me fo more..

What a hidden gem!! Literally. You can't see it's even there until you park. Easy way to spend a day with the family. Came away with a sore face from smiling and seeing the children so happy! Staff are amazing. Fantastic rides and well looked after animals. We'll be back!

Very nice theme park for younger families with plenty of rides, entertained us for a whole day. The rollercoasters are faster than you might expect! We spotted on the website beforehand that the biggest rollercoaster is currently out of action, however having been on the others and seen the size of it I'm not sure I would have wanted to go on it anyway! Main highlight for our kids was the long water slides which are also very fast. Beware that on the log flume you do get extremely wet so worth saving for the end or bringing a change of clothes! Only slight disappointment was the 5d cinema was closed all day. The food options in the soft play were ok, not amazing but not too expensive.

Great little theme park and mini animal park. There are lots of rides for small children. Various little play park areas and soft play, too. Lots of amenities are scattered around the park and very clean toilets. Good little gift shop to spend the parents pennies. Would recommend a visit if in cornwall and want a cheap day out for the family.

Great place, great for ages 4+Lots of rides, all free once you get in. Definitely need a poncho or something for Thunder Falls! We got soaked! Was an overcast day when we went and it was perfect. They were a bit short staffed so some staff were having to alternate between rides but it worked. They were all friendly and polite and helpful.

Simply the best day out for the family in years ❤️ great for younger kids and such a lovely atmosphere. Staff are so helpful and accommodating. Great variety of rides and animals. Will absolutely come back when we are anywhere near for future days out

A really good day out! Took our 2 kids (3 and 9). Both really enjoyed it. We were worried the 3yo would be too small to go on the majority, but she was able to go on all the 9yo did.Really friendly staff, always interacting with the kids.Everything was pretty close together and the whole place isn’t too big so there were no groans of tired legs. Was quiet when we visited so didn’t need to queue for anything.Free return within 7 days so definitely worth the money!!

Such a fun day! The weather wasn't great but that didn't dampen our spirits or our day out! The children had a full day of fun and we can't wait to visit again. The staff were all really friendly asking if the kiddies were having a nice day/good time.
