Both Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry and Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry are wheelchair and scooter accessible ferries. There is no charge to bring an electric scooter, power wheelchair, or manual wheelchair from the mainland to Mackinac Island.

However, when you plan your trip to Mackinac Island, take note that ferries charge a bicycle transportation fee in addition to your roundtrip ticket price. It is also recommended that visitors that bring their own bicycles also invest in a personal lock to use in guest parking spaces and downtown.
With 13 fudge stores on the Island, it's no wonder Mackinac Island is the fudge capital of the world and celebrates the annual Mackinac Island Fudge Festival every August.
Mackinac Island is a charming place steeped in history. Horse-drawn carriages and bicycles take the place of cars because motor vehicles have been banned for more than 100 years. It was the ideal setting for another movie starring Reeve, the time-traveling cult classic, “Somewhere in Time.”
There are fewer species of land animals on the island than on the mainland. However, you can still spot squirrels, chipmunks, bats, and snowshoe hares. Less common residents include red fox, raccoons, gray squirrels, muskrats, and weasels.
