We're about halfway through August and its lineup of local events, including live music, with this week's concert picks installment spanning multiple genres and featuring award-winning performers.

Those include a Mexican musician with a 14-times-platinum, No. 1 Billboard tropical airplay hit, who also won a Billboard Latin Music Award and was nominated in multiple other categories, playing a concert in Sarasota. You'll also find Blues Music Award-winning and nominated acts playing concerts throughout Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties, as well as a musician who started his career alongside an acclaimed, Grammy-winning guitarist, performing here as part of a local virtuoso guitar series. Kyran Daniel

Troll Music in Venice will hold a concert featuring Australian guitarist Kyran Daniel this weekend, as part of a virtuoso guitar series hosted by the venue that's also set to include shows by Bryce Mullins and Muriel Anderson later this year. Daniel started his career performing alongside acclaimed Australian acoustic guitarist and recent Grammy winner Tommy Emmanuel. Strobes Event Center, which has hosted multiple well-known names in Latin music, will continuewith Mexican electronic musician Raymix this weekend. Raymix rose to fame with his track "Oye Mujer," particularly its remix with Colombian singer Juanes, which was a No. 1 Billboard tropical airplay hit, went 14-times-platinum, and won Regional Mexican Song of the Year at the Billboard Latin Music Awards (where he was also nominated in numerous other categories including New Artist of the Year.) Ariella

Sarasota vocal-guitar duo Ariella will returnto Florida Studio Theatre for a show this week in the theater's Bowne's Lab. Those in the Sarasota music scene likely first became familiar with singer Ariella McManus from her time frontingthe popular group Ari andthe Alibis, whose sound blended soul, blues, rock, funk and jazz. Biscuit Miller

Blues bassist and singer-songwriter Biscuit Miller will continue a string of local dates with shows at Bradenton's Cottonmouth and Leroy's in Punta Gorda. A two-time winner of the Blues Music Award for Instrumentalist — Bass, Miller has released albums including 2019's "Chicken Grease" and 2010's "Blues with a Smile," a fitting title for the charismatic performer. J.P. Soars and the Red Hots

After releasing his latest album "Brick by Brick" earlier this summer, South Florida blues guitarist and singer-songwriter J.P. Soars will return to Sarasota County restaurant and venue Englewoods on Dearborn for a show with his band the Red Hots. The group received four Blues Music Awards nominations in 2022, including Band of the Year, B.B. King Entertainer and Instrumentalist — Guitar for Soars, and Instrumentalist — Drums for bandmate Chris Peet.
