Mr. Welsh was born in Chesterfield, SC, a son of the late Ben Heath and Bessie Rayfield Welsh. He was a retired employee of Tri County Mental Health and was a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Welsh was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Wilbert Welsh and Jack Welsh, and by two sisters, Hester Moore and Janelle Graham.

North Carolina ASHEVILLE Mr. James Franklin 'Frank' Garner, 68, died Sunday, June 24, 2001 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center after a brief illness. Mr.

Garner was born May 31, 1933 in Jacksonville, FL and was raised in Wilmington, NC and Ra leigh, NC. A resident of Asheville for nearly 29 years, Frank was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was graduate of Cary High School and Charlotte College. He served in the U.S. Navy, having been stationed at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL.

Frank spent most of his career as an insurance adjuster for Motors Insurance Company (MIC) and Aetna Life and Casualty, from where he retired in 1991. He also worked for Carnation and Southern Bell. After his retirement, he became an active volunteer for the Asheville-Mountain Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. At tireless, dedicated worker, Frank devoted his energy to the local, regional and national Disaster Services team. During the past few years, he served as an on disaster volunteer during many national disasters, including the aftermath of Hurricanes Bertha and Floyd, flooding in Kentucky, Georgia and Texas, tornadoes in Tennessee and wild fires in New Mexico.

He also held a number of prominent positions, including local Disaster Services Chairman, former chairman Emergency Services Advisory Committee, former member Board of Directors, former local and state inspector of Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs), member of the National Disaster Services Human Resources Roster, and Community Disaster Education spokesman and instructor. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Anne Ritch Garner; one daughter, Julia Anne Garner of Atlanta, GA; two sons, James Franklin Garner, Jr. of Asheville, and William Andrew Garner and his wife, Erika, of Bad Sauerbrunn, Austria; a brother, Carlton Leroy Garner, Jr. of Tullahoma, TN; and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 28 at Central United Methodist Church in Asheville with Dr.

Rob Blackburn and Reverend Carol Ploch officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Mrs. Wilson, a native of the Bronx, New York, was born December 19, 1914 to Willis Priester and Flora Williams.

She was a member of Equator Faith Mission. Mrs. Wilson was also an ordained minister and Evangelist. Mrs. Wilson is the widow of the late Claude Wilson, Sr.

Her son, Claude Wilson, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Gladys Wilson of Concord and seven grandchildren, Terry Wilson and Nancy Wilson of Charlotte, Norma Anthony, Arlene Liriano and Sonya Brice of Rock Hill, Yvette Wilson of Gastonia, and Jeffrey Wilson of Huntersville. Jerry Lee Morris, 69, of 2918 Imperial Drive, died Sunday, June 24, 2001 at his residence. A native of Charlotte, he was born July 1, son of the late Charles S. and Kathryn Grimm Morris. A graduate of Belmont Abbey, he served four years in the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr.

Morris was a master performing work throughout the Southeast for 46 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Earl Samuel Brock, two daughters, Catherine Brock Rinehart and her husband, Duane, and Daryl Brock Bailey of the East End Community; one son, Earl Brock, Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Adrian, MI; six grandchildren, Eddie Rinehart, Scott Rinehart, Mandi B. Wheeler, Justin Bailey, Earl Brock, Ill, and Billy Brock; three great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Louise Howell of Charlotte, NC; and one niece and one nephew. She worked ten years as the office for Memphis Hosiery, in Memphis, TN; eleven years as the office manager with Texas Automatic Sprinklers, Inc. in Wichita, KS and New Orleans, LA, and worked eight years as the office manager in Real Estate in New Orleans, LA.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and a Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls with the Whitehaven Chapter, in Memphis, TN. She attended East End Baptist Church. A special thank you to Dr. Gail McCracken for her expression of caring, compassion and love. Visitation will be June 26, from PM Tuesday night, at the Ashby Home in Benton, AR.

Funeral services will be held on June 27 at 1 PM Wednesday at the East End Baptist Church, 4701 East End Road, with Pastor Rick Morrow officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery. ST. CHARLES, MO Mrs. Barbara Taylor Hapworth, 82, died June 24, 2001 at St.

Joseph's Carmelite Home in St. Charles, MO. Born in New Jersey on January 31, 1919 to the late Phillip and Lena Taylor, Mrs. Hapworth was a teacher with the Massachusetts Board of Education for 40 years. She taught in Northbridge, Massachusetts.
