Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/06/24 Full Review Kim P Dianne Weist was great and Pike was very good but, coming from a family with many members in law enforcement, they gave up after an hour of jeering and hooting at how unrealistic the characters' behavior was. Without giving away too much of the plot, if you've taken ANYTHING from a criminal, much less what was taken from the gang boss, they will burn and sever parts of you and/or leverage the life of your loved ones. They don't try to KILL you without at least TRYING to recover what was taken. They can always kill you later. I can buy into "warrior nuns" and 5'2" "female assassins" that shake off punches from 325lb behemoths but I can't buy into mob bodyguards letting someone walk up quickly, invade their personal space and turn their head when the stranger gestures towards an elevator that the mob guy already knew was there. The cast does a good job acting but the movie starts to go off the rails halfway through. For being a mafia boss you would expect peter dinklage to be ruthless and relentless but he instead was timid, and his crew of gangsters incompetent. The plot could have ended many ways and i think ultimately they chose the least satisfying conclusion for the audience and left a lot to be desired. The huge problem this film has is that its motivating factor is to deliver a moral message on late stage capitalism in the final 10 minutes, and it does so with no pay off for the audience. there is no one to root for, there's no arc to really complete. ultimately the writers failed to find a way of making the film something you want to come back to Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/24 Full Review Read all reviews
